hi

Hi there! We live in the Seattle area and it's really expensive to get married around here, too. We really wanted something fun and different, and the way it works out for us, we decided we'd rather have 50 people we really wanted there and have a great time having our wedding somewhere fun that also meant a lot to us, rather than spending all our hard earned money having a wedding at home with 250 guests and a bunch of stuff that we didn't want just to please everyone, and do things that weren't really us. So in our case, it works out perfectly because it's actually a better deal all around, and it's everything we could ask for. :goodvibes

Hi My GIGI!

Welcome to the Wedding Boards!

I'm from San Francisco. Weddings here are EXPENSIVE. In fact, I just went to my distant cousin's wedding this past weekend. She had 300 guests and I'm sad to say, with the amount of money she spent, I was a bit disappointed. There were no coordination, not much planning, it was a mess. The poor thing was stressed. Food was mediocre and the reception site was so . . . blah. She spent $50,000.

If you look back at the threads here, there have been brides that made magic out of $15,000. With a lot of planning, and prioritizing, Disney Weddings are actually WORTH IT :goodvibes: There is no place else in the world where you can dance with Mickey and have a classic Disney Magic Happiest Place on Earth feel.

The reception sites are already beautiful and WELL maintained, so you don't need much decorating. I've been keeping notes of all the things I want and so far, I'm way UNDER my budget.

If you have any questions on how to save money, planning or other wedding tips . . . this is the place to post / read.

Thanks!!

I have to agree with the other Disney Brides.

Two years ago when I was planning my wedding, the "average" wedding cost $25,000. Of course, that could vary widely depending on where you live.

I was able to get married at Disney for about $6000. That included EVERYTHING (the wedding, the dress, the honeymoon, even putting my dogs in a kennel for a week).

Disney weddings can be very simple and affordable, or they can be the most extravagant dream imagineable...the choice is yours.

You may want to visit www.disneyweddings.com, they have a lot of info there as well as te costs for the various types of weddings. Escape weddings (formerly known as Intimate) start at $4,000 with up to 18 guests.

Welcome to the boards!
