Got back late yesterday.
Our flight (Mytravel) was due to leave Thursday @ 16:20. Check in was supposed to open @ 12 and we got to Sanford @ 11:40am.
(we had seen CNN on the TV @ our resort so packed as much as we could into our cases) The only things in our hand luggage was Ipods, digital Camera, book, jewellry my medication, a house of blues beer glass and some Caymen islands rum cakes)
Upon entering the terminal there were lots of posters up informing us that no liquids were allowed of any kinds. There was also a desk with a TSA guy who asked us if we had a liqids on us. Big bins were next to him for us to chuck anything out.
We then lined up to check in, by 12:20 the check in had not opened and there was quite a line. however a MYTravel Boss had been out to talk to us and said that they would open checkin as soon as they had confirmation that our plane had left glasgow. They did not want to take our luggage of us if our plane was not coming.
12:50 they recieved confirmation and stated checking us in - however we knew we were in for a long delay waiting for the plane. When Checking in MYTravel gave each member a $12 voucher for food.
TSa agents were walking around reminding us what not to have in our hand luggage.
We then went to the security line it was longer than usual I think it took about 30 mins to get through. But they had all the desks open and had actually brought in extra staff. All were friendly. Everything had to go through the xray including your socks & Shoes. They then searched all bags (this was why there was a delay) .
One in departure lounge you were able to buy your duty free but they kept it and gave you a reciept.
Our time came on the departures board 10:50pm- @ 10:30 they called our flight but before we got on the plane we were all searched again - all bags -only when we had gone throught that search were we given our duty free on the plane.
Every 20 mins or so tannoy messages were broad cast saying the airport was on orange alert and there was a lot of police walking around esp in departure lounges.
I cannot fault Mytravel though they kept us informed throughout.
Time actaully passed quite quickly.
oh well I know I said I wanted to stay an extra day but I didnt mean this to happen!
