Hi everyone I'm so excited to have found this forum! I'm a WA mum of 2 little boys who has always wanted to visit Disneyland but its just never happened. I've decided to set a goal for our family to go over the Xmas period in either 2016 or 2017 when my eldest will be 6/7 and the youngest 5/6. It seems so far away but I know it will come quickly and I need the time to save :) my partner works fifo and has a 4 week break over Xmas so that's when we would need to go. I'm really looking forward to reading every ones stories and tips!

:wave2: Welcome to the boards, there is so much you can learn on here!
If you can aim to go early Dec your airfares would be the cheapest though if you DH has Christmas off I imagine you would be looking at later in Dec.
Happy planing :)

Hello & Welcome :)

We all LOVE Disney here so you are in the right place for advice! I think it is very worth while to save up and take the kids to Disneyland, even if it is a once in their childhood special holiday, they and you will remember it for a life time  There is nothing like it, and whilst they are young, even better, when what they see is what they believe, the teenagers like to question everything :hyper:

Christmas week to new year will be crazy at any Disney park worldwide. Aim for first or second week in December. You may even score free dining if you time first week of Dec at WDW right!

If your Dh gets FF points maybe you can accumulate enough for some of the airfares or use a credit card to earn points to redeem for flights.

Whilst you are over in the USA be sure to show your NRMA/SGIO/RACQ membership card for discounts to all sorts of tourist places (SeaWorld, Knotts Berry Farm etc).

I saw your other thread about saving $ - you will find all sorts of great ideas on the budget forums but also check out the Australian website called simplesavings.com.au (my particular favourite tip is the $21 challenge).

Good luck!

What a magical age to go - My DD was just 6 on her first visit.

It's never too early to start planning. We're heading over the first two weeks of December this year. I am so excited to see it all done for Christmas.

Welcome! You will find that we're really good in planning and helping each other out for our trips to the Disneyland or Disneyworld, infact almost anywhere in the US or worldwide, all from an Aussie and Kiwi perspective.

Welcome! I've been saving to take my boys since before my eldest was born! We're going on a big trip in 2015, probably over Christmas. They'll be 4, 6 and 8. We're going on a short trip to Vegas this year for a wedding and we'll be spending 10 days in DL - it's going to be so fun! I think the ages you are aiming for are wonderful. Our youngest will be 2 for this year's trip and although I'm sure he'll have a magical time, it's hard work and we have some restrictions with height that we won't have in two year's time.

Welcome.

We went to DLR in the first week of December '11 and it was really quiet. There were so many rides we could jump straight back on after getting off. Avoid the weekends, though, if you can help it.

We are going to WDW after Thanksgiving this year and it should be quieter, too.

Undercover Tourist has a planner that shows the best times to visit the parks too, so that could be worth a look.

Enjoy your trip :)
