hi there! pretty new to this board.
hubby was "officially" declared "disabled", (due to his vision).
there are many threads about the physically disabled, or autism.
just want to point out to people in line...
just because the couple ahead of you in line may be walking . um... a MITE... slower than you... because someone in the group has low vision.chances are,, by the time you get up to the loading zone, you are not going to ride any later than you would have, if we had walked faster.

and.. if you push on my back, and try to step on the back of my heels, while I am trying to watch out for the person in my party.... who has low vision........\
um.. you STILL won't get to the front of the line any faster

Yeah, no matter the reason why they are moving slowly (and there is always a reason!), there is no reason to be rude and push or try to rush others. take a deep breath and slow down and enjoy yourself.

I have permanent double vision and wear prisim lens. Even DH doesn't understand that I have to go slow on steps, especially when the light is dim.
I hold onto the rail when I can but I have also experienced impatient riders.
Enjoy your trips.

please be patient with the ignorant people out there. There is no need to upset yourself on a vacation. Just do things at your own speed and enjoy yourself. I am 45 yrs old and always use an ecv on vacation. I am a large man and people sneer because they think I am a lazy fat person. What they don't know is about the left leg and knee trauma I had many years ago. More recently my fractured back. Yes the doctors cannot operate on my back because I am so large. So I know how it is to be discriminated and ran over so to speak. There are ignorant people who have no respect and manners. But there are many good people too, and I think the good people out weigh the bad. So if it happens again with one ignorant group, look around at the happy faces and good people and get inspiration from them.

 Smidgey!

its not easy being Green (or different)

and it is frustrating that people around have so little patience! I have to remind you of our first year using the reflective captioning for dh - we were at Epcot in Honey I shrunk the Kids - (back up - our first day we went to Animal Kingdom Tough to be a Bug - you line up in the queue with the wheelchair folks, even tho you tell several CM's you need the mirror for reflective captioning - in AK the wheelchair seating is UNDER the reflective captioning, but they let the hoards of people in - and the CM was so mortified we had to sit under the captioning - but, no worries, it was fun just the same! He then took us to the front and got us all set up for the next show)

now back to Epcot - this time, I'm going to be more aggressive (ok pro active is a better word!) at finding where the red lights are and get dh settled while the CM finds the mirror - well here come the people, and yes, it looks like we are rude when we are going around and down and coming to the end of the aisle and slipping in -

and yes, the lady next to us tries to passively aggressively chastise us for breaking the rules "how rude some people are..."

hah - then the CM comes with the mirror. Poor lady now wants to stuff her foot in her mouth... and bless her, by the end of the show she apologized and asked how we knew to ask etc...

So in the end dear Smidgey and Nebo - dont be afraid to get your needs met, walk slow, smile often, and make sure to pack something for our bleeding tongues we keep biting back the comments of those that cant possibly understand without walking a mile in our shoes!!

and Smidgey - dont be embarrassed to ask at some of those attractions with large crowds that seat at the same time - to be seated with the wheelchaired groups - less stress for sure!

I am thinking of Philharmagic, and the other movies - - also any attraction with moving steps (Peter Pan, Spaceship Earth, with low vision those moving sidewalks are disconcerting for sure!)

We always walk slow!

A) even when you enter a queue that has a short line, and everyone is amp'd up, aside from Pirates in DL, there's still gonna be a sort line inside and you WILL get on the ride at the exact same time you would have if you RAN the length of the unoccupied queue.

B) Walking is easier on the back, legs and feet than standing is. So a leisurely pace is more comfortable. Why people virtuallly run, just so they can stand longer, I've never understood.

C) My littles legs only go so fast. I'm not going to make them, esp my DD with CP fall down. Because, see point A. Yain't gettin there no faster. Yain't savin any time.

It's the same mentality that causes people to speed around someone going the speed limit on the streets----and then wait with that person at the same stoplight! Or stop very close to the person in front of them at that light instead of leaving the safe car length between them. (Believe me -- if you ever saw a car that was hit from the rear and plowed into the car in front of them [accordion] you wouldn't do that!) How much time does it save? 1 second--two?

Unfortunately, we are an instant gratification society!
