Hi-New Member Here :)

As I know from going to Disneyland, we won't get everything done. I have been going to Disneyland since birth and still haven't done everything. I am still considering the dining plan but don't think we will add that, we don't eat much so it may end up costing us more than it saves! Thanks for your input!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Just some input from a guy who grew up in CA going to Disneyland and just recently returned from a first trip to WDW. WDW is much bigger than Disneyland (as I am sure you know). We spent 7 full days there and it was not enough! I found myself wanting to spend more time in Epcot (which is amazing) and I also loved the Animal Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is nice--don't get me wrong--but is the most similar to Disneyland--so I wanted to spend more of my time discovering stuff we don't have in CA. We stayed at the villas at the Contemporary and LOVED our stay there. However, next time we would like to try one of the Epcot resorts. If you think that you might spend a lot of time at Epcot, you might want to check out the Yacht or Beach Club. They are about a 5 minute walk to Epcot (back entrance) and have an amazing pool area!

Have fun planning! :thumbsup2

If it fits in your budget, I would consider the Yacht Club. That's where I spent my honeymoon many moons ago. But it so nice to be able to walk into Epcot whenever you want (I recommend park hoppers for a trip where you stay at an Epcot resort), and walk or boat to Hollywood Studios.

Especially for 2 adults, you may find you spend a lot of time in Epcot.

Wow thanks for the picture, I can't believe how spaced out everything seems to be. It's bigger than most towns that's for sure. ;) Budget wise we have a lot of people willing to pitch in for our honeymoon rather than buy us any gifts (which we are totally fine with, I'd take WDW over a belgian waffle maker any day!) -See that acronym??:thumbsup2-

I am not picky at all and wasn't really serious when I said I didn't want to ride a bus, I don't mind it and I'm sure Disney buses aren't too bad! It's taking us somewhere we really want to be so we'll be just fine! We are excited as more details start coming together. So exciting!! I am very thankful for these boards too! I was using an app on my iPhone but those only go so far, so this is perfect. Is there a DIS board app on the iPhone?

You're welcome! Yeah, it is rather large and spaced out. If people are planning on pitching in then I'm sure your could do either a moderate or a deluxe. Awesome with the acronym :thumbsup2, you will be picking a ton of them up in no time lol! DISboards are great and I'm sure you will get a lot of good advice from people on here during your planning. As far as an app, I really don't know....hopefully someone else will have some insight :).

yeah that's what I kinda figured! I wasn't sure how different Disneyworld was from Disneyland lol. We are far walkers so I thought maybe there'd be something but after all day in the park I don't think we will want to walk too much further! Well I think we want to stay in a delux, I've seen a few that let you take a monorail to Magic Kindgom and Epcot which will probably be our most visited parks. I do some more research. Anyone have their honeymoon here? Where did you stay? :)

We honeymooned at the Grand Floridian - no better way to spoil ourselves 18 years ago! But there are more options now for deluxe resorts close to the parks. We love to stay at the Beach Club, it's a short walk into Epcot and a longer walk to Hollywood Studios. Plus the nighttime comes alive on the Boardwalk and we love to stroll along at night, watching the live acts, shopping, enjoying ice cream and just taking in the sights.

It's great to be on the monorail line (Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian) but at the end of the day you're with the other hundreds of guests waiting to get on the monorail, whereas at the Beach Club and the Boardwalk, you get to just stroll on home :)

First, CONGRATULATIONS! WDW is an amazing honeymoon destination! You have already received some great advice and likely over the course of your planning your trip things will change since there are so many choices! :goodvibes Just plan what works for you and your budget.

Mickeyluv'r has give some great advice and been very helpful - a shout out to them for their helpfulness! :)

1) Congratulations!

2) Just seeing how spread out Disneyworld is doesn't show you one thing that's not obvious: that except for a few places, there's no place to walk. You can walk from the Epcot resorts (Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin) to Epcot and the Studios. And you can walk from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom. But, even though Animal Kingdom Lodge (that's the AKL in the acronym world!) is very close to Animal Kingdom itself, you can't walk there because there are no sidewalks or walkways. You'd be run over on the highway if you weren't stopped by internal security first.

3) Look at pictures and read descriptions of ALL the WDW (Walt Disney World) properties before you decide. There are various price ranges and many different amenities. Location is only one factor. The best place (I think) to read up on the resorts is at allears -- http://allears.net/index.html -- loads of pictures and lots of info about all the resorts.

4) If walking's what you like, you might want to consider Wilderness Lodge (WL), because there's a lot of walking (or running) trails in and around the lodge itself, even though you can't walk to any of the parks from there.

5) Enjoy planning your honeymoon!

My favorite resort is the polynesian, but in october I would not stay anywhere except a epcot resort. The food and wine festival will be going on at epcot. I would suggest the boardwalk inn. I think its the best of the 3 epcot resorts for two adults. You can also walk to 2 parks, and there is a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance. There is also ta few bars and a night club.

FIRST OFF: Thank you all for all of your help!! I am very happy I picked this website and I am excited to have my millions of questions answered. :cutie:

I am not sure we will spend much time at Epcot, but I like the idea of staying in an Epcot resort because of the walking distance to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We love taking our walks (we walk at least a mile every dya) and so far I really like the Boardwalk Inn. Epcot is one of the main parks I would like to visit. I also want to see one of the waterparks. So much to do, so little time!! We have been to DLR 50+ times (Idk, I could be exaggerating :lmao:) and still haven't done everything there. I just know whatever we decide on, it's going to be perfect!

I will give Yacht Club a look. All of the deluxe resorts seem to be around the same price range. I am still thinking about park hoppers. I was thinking about not getting them so we don't feel the need to rush anywhere, we can spend the whole day in one park and get more done at a slower more relaxed pace, but then I don't want to limit ourselves to our favorites. We will probably take a break midday anyway, so park hoppers may be a good option to consider specially if we are so close to Epcot.

I am hoping to go for a deluxe, but I really like Port Orleans also, so I am still considering it. It may be worth it to spend less money on the resort and more money on nicer restaurants and souveneers. Decisions, decisions. :)

Your description of the BC is very convincing! I will have to make a list of pros and cons of each resort. Of course my fiance is no help "I like that one" with every resort I show him. :lmao:

Thank you! Yes the advice I am getting on here is great, everyone seems very friendly and a great help! :thumbsup2 I really think with this board I can plan so much better, I was starting to feel extremely overwhelmed! :scared1:

Good info to know! I have noticed a lot of the resorts have bike and running trails. Which we will definitely enjoy. I will definitely take a look at every resort and write down what I like/don't like at each resort. And the prices for my dates, which I may end up changing because I notice a lot of cheaper dates now. This will deifnitely help me get to the final decision. Maybe if I'm lucky, my fiance will throw in some input!

Ok, good info to consider, thank you! I also really like the Polynesian, it's so pretty!

Coming into the convo late, but just a quick question... Would you happen to a military family? I noticed the screenname (MotoWifey) and it sounds military-like. (this does pertain to the convo)

I have to agree with you. I grew 15 minutes from Dl. The magic kingdom is my least favorite park at wdw. I just don't think it compares to Disneyland. If I were op I would plan on spending more time visiting the other parks especially epcot. The water parks are well worth the extra money. I would not leave those out of your visit.

Haha, no it is Moto as in Motocross, dirt bikes! :moped: My mom used to be in the military though, I remember going to the commissary and the BX. :)

Yes, we will probably be in the other parks more, and I am definitely excited to see the waterparks! :)

While I certainly do not think you could go wrong with any of the deluxe resorts, I agree with the posters that have recommended staying in the Epcot area.

Those resorts are perfect for a couple that likes to walk a lot! As others have mentioned, you can walk to Epcot or the DHS from the Epcot resorts. Plus, you can visit all of the other resorts around Crescent Lake. For a newly married couple, I also think the night activities at the Boardwalk would be so much fun! ESPN Club is right there along with a huge dance hall and piano bar. I also feel the need to warn you that you will most likely fall in love with Epcot. It is hard to truly grasp how unique the park is until you step foot in the World Showcase. Strolling into the France pavilion from your resort at night just to grab a pastry, for example, can be so romantic. :lovestruc And it is also very likely that you will want to take advantage of the Food & Wine Festival, as another poster already mentioned. It should also be mentioned that there are a BUNCH of fantastic restaurants in the Epcot resort area if dining quality is important to you.

The rates at the Boardwalk Inn/Yacht & Beach Club are the same and the resorts are literally a 5-10 minute walk from each other, so I would just opt for whichever resort theme you prefer. If the pool is really important to you, the BC/YC is the better choice. If, however, you want to be in the middle of the Boardwalk activity and prefer that theme, I would not hesitate to stay at the BWI instead. Both resorts have their pros!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and please let us know where you end up! :goodvibes

Okay, I was just curious. Military gets deep discount at Disney.
