Hello, I've been a Disney fan for 14 years and we are going back this summer for a few days (never long enough!). We are staying at the Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney. What are the best ways to get to the parks from there?

You are going to love this site! Everyone here is so helpful, and knowledgeable! I have never stayed at the RP, but if you have a car, I would bet that that is the eisiest way to get to the parks. There are resort busses, but I have heard that the DTD resort busses are not that great. I have heard that they run less frequently (than Disney resort busses) and drop you off far from the park gates and in a parking lot at your hotel. But, I have never stayed at DTD, so maybe someone who has will have more accurate info!!!! Have fun!!!:hippie:

The resort busses from the Royal Plaza should run on a regular 30 minute schedule. Or when leaving the parks you can take a bus to DTD and walk to your hotel. The buses at DTD are much better than many off-site shuttles although you are dropped off further away than Disney transportation.

Mary has a review of Royal Plaza at her site www.mousesavers.com It's a little dated now.

Just don't stay there last week in May / early June...it's the central focal point for a big event where you mostly wouldn't want to be with your kids (www.gaydays.com).

I stayed there 1 night in Jan and the room was nice enough, no complaints at all other than it was too small for 4 adult men. The beds were not kings, more queen sized.

Use the hotel shuttle. We have always had good luck with the DTD hotel shuttle. It runs every 30 minutes. You are dropped off a little further from the entrance than the Disney buses, but not way out like some of the posts would have you think. Plus the buses are a lot more nicer than the Disney buses. Very comfortable.
