Hi everyone......

Im a newbie here so please be gentle with me ;)

Before I start rambling I just want to say what a fab forum this is.

We have just booked to go over christmas, yippeeee, So excited :yay:
I have 4 year old twins who want to count the sleeps down already!

I would just like to ask what do you recommend we should do for Christmas dinner? I was given a quote for the New York hotel for christmas dinner which was £250, eek!
Also should we book somewhere before we go or will we be ok booking somewhere when we arrive? Any recommendations where to go?

Also any other tips for a christmas stay would be appreciated, as our previous trips have been in June and September.

Thanks :thumbsup2

For christmas I would say definitely book in advance!!

With little ones maybe somehwere a bit less 'grown up' than NY may be better for Chistmas Dinner, but then I've only eaten breaksfast at HNY, and never at xmas time.

I bet some of the places in the village will be more lively and have more characters. I know people LOVE the Steakhouse in the village, and there are loads of characters there!

How lovely for your twins!!! And what a perfect age to take them! It makes my heart melt just thinking of it!

On a wierd note.....People have told me my whole life I'm gonna have twins, (and also told my bf he will - from before we met!)

Hi Ceri, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

You are going to have the most magical time!! :wizard: We went over Christmas a few years ago and it was absolutely our best Christmas ever. :santa:

Some of the restaurants do special meals at higher than usual prices for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We only wanted to pay normal prices so went for a character meal at The Lucky Nugget and had a great time at "normal" prices. ;) Once the new Disney brochure is out it will have the "special" meals in it and you'll be able to work out which restaurants will have business as usual.

ETA: I would definitely book something before you go. We booked once the 60 day window had opened. We hadn't booked anywhere for Christmas Eve as we were planning on eating somewhere in the Village ~ well, the queues were so awful we gave up and went to bed hungry! So I'd definitely recommend booking.

My trippie is in the Trip Reports sticky (December 2005) if you're interested, hope it will be some help. :)

Hi

I'm a newbie here too.:)

We went at Christmas last year for what was our 12th visit but the first at Christmas. Most of the restaurants in the park and village have normal menu's and prices on Christmas Day it is just some of the hotels that have expensive specials.

However, be aware that a lot of the restaurants close early on Christmas Eve evening for pre-booked special meals.:santa:

We ate in Walts on Main Street on Christmas Day and the Blue Lagoon on Boxing Day but you had to book early. I phoned and booked both at the end of October. Would recommend both but we did not have young children with us (only teenagers) and you may like to try somewhere with Disney characters such as Cafe Mickey in the village

Thanks everyone for your welcomes and replies.

Booking definately seems the way to go then, I like the sound of a character meal as we havent done that yet.

So would October be the earliest I could book? Do I book through the Disney website or restaurant direct? Sorry for more questions ;)

Torsie.....Its funny isnt it what feelings people get, a bit spooky your bf has been told the same too! Keep us posted! I can personally say it is lovely having twins, hard at the beginning but so worth it :cloud9:

Off to have a look at your trip report Ware Bear.

Wow Salandbri 12 visits! How fab.

Thanks again.

yeah, I think it's 60 days prior that you can book :-)

I booked my hotels for my trip next month a while ago, and I'm gonna phone up in a week or so to check they are all right, as although the lady was lovely on the phone, I'm worried she got the wrong end of the stick and has booked me at Walt's twice instead of Walt's once and Cafe Mickey once.

They are very friednly and happy and helpful though. Just think I spoke a bit to fast for her! The hold music just makes me so excited!! same as the TV adverts that seem to be on every break!!

Although when we had decided last year hat we would go to Marrakech instead of DLRP it seemed every Ad was for DLRP. And trust me when I say tehre's a good reason there aren;t Marrakech ad's on TV!!

Cheers, I better mark it on the calendar :)

Now, I think I need to get a ticker sorted!
