I don't see myself collecting a zillion pins as I know many do, but I would like to get some pins that are specifically meaningful to me. I've gotten some thru ebay and will also be looking when we go to Disney next June, but I am curious about something. My family and I went to WDW back in 96 during the 25th anniversary; I didn't know anything about pins then--I guess I was living under a rock! We took tons of pictures of Cinderella's castle all dressed up like a big birthday cake, but I've never seen any pins commemorating the 'castle cake'. I ordered one '96 pin with the Cinderella coach and the number 25 but I have searched and searched and cannot find any pictures or info about pins with the 'cake'. Is it possible that Disney didn't put out any pins of the castle as a cake? If anyone has info to share about where I might find such a pin for sale or at least have pictures so that I can see what the pins look like, I would be so grateful.

Thanks, Carla

and welcome from all the pinheads.
There are 25th Anniversary pins out there. You can go to Pin Pics and do a search for them or You can do the same on e-bay.
Just collect all the information you can on them.
I think there was a set for most of the attractions at that time. The castle would be the hard one to find.
Hope this helps. shirley

There was a watch and silver pin of the castle produced for the 25th.
Sold only thru the Disney Catalog

Welcome to PIn Collecting. And welcome to the board. This is a wonderful family.!!

WDW has made pins through the years but not many. At the time of the 25th anniversary Disney wasn't doing the pin trading, so there was not many pins produced. I know they did a rare few pins for the 25th, they focused more on keychains, postcards, clothing and etc.

You have not been under a rock. Pin Trading didn't start offically on Disney until October of 1999 to start the celebration of the Millenium. This is when Disney went into full effect when selling hundreds of pins and releasing LEs.

A little advice on the pin collecting, collect what you like. Only buy extras of pins when you know there are going to be other pins out you are going to want to trade for. If not you'll get like the rest of us addicted pin traders, have hordes of pins hiding all over the house.

I hope this helps you some.
