Hi, I have decided to take the family of 5 to dw May 18th-24th. (first time for me) .. I am pretty sure about those dates... give or take one.
I am thinking of renting points from a timeshare holder... mainly because I am having difficulty finding reasonably priced places that will room 5 people (3 young kids and my husband and myself) I don't understand why they are soo stict about it, all 3 of my kids would fit in 1 full size bed. Anyone have comments or reccomendations about that?

Also, I am confused about the parks.. there are soo many, is 1 day sufficient for each of the parks? Is there a park that doesn't take too long?

You can stay in a family suite at the All Star Hotel or you have to stay in a moderate/deluxe resort to fit 5 people in a room (trust me...the room are tiny, you don't want 5 people in one room at a value resort!) I don't know anything about renting timeshare points but that may be a good option so you will be able to cook. It will be difficult to make table reservations at this late of date unless you are really flexible with places/times.

In terms of parks, AK is probably the quickest to go through. If your children are young, I would plan on two days at MK. You will get varying opinions on Epcot and DHS (old MGM). Personally, my DD likes DHS better.

Thanks! I am flexible about food, I just want to plan 1 nice meal per day, and then eat cheep food the rest of the time.
I guess since i have not been there before, I am not sure if I should be worried about dinners??

Well, Port Orleans Riverside will book 5 member families. We have friends with 3 kids who stay there every time they go and they rave about it. We have 4 kids, so we just get two rooms at POP or All-Star Movies. We only like to stay on-site so we can have free Magical Express Transport from the airport, free transportation around and to and from all four parks, Extra Magic Hours for all four parks and of course, the Disney Dining Plan. We love, love, love the dining plan. There is just no way we could feed our kids on $10.00 per child per day. It's an awesome savings. We usually have a character meal just about every night we are there.

As far as planning for the parks, we usually do a minimum of 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at Animal Kingdom and 1 day at Disney MGM/Hollywood Studios. The easiest way I have found to plan my park days is to use The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World travel guide. I also subscribe to their touring plans website for only $7.95 and it has their crowd calender listed for the next year and it tells you which parks to visit on which days. Once we decide which days we will be in which parks, I just call WDW Dining and see what dinner reservations they have open between about 5:30 and 6:30 and make our Advance Dining Reservations.

Hope this info help!

If I stayed Offsite.. How expensive is transportation? Can I buy a day pass for the disney transportation thing?

Most of the Hotels around WDW offer "Transportation" shuttles to the parks.. but run on limited schedules.. they will have specific "TIMES" they leave the hotel and times for pick up's in the parks.
What about rentaing a car ?? there are usually last minute deals on rentals.. but you'll have to pay to park. So you woiuld want the Hotel shuttles.

Also a LOT of the DVC rentals seem to be full now.

I do not really know much about off-site, sorry. I have heard that some places have shuttles that can take you, but they don't run continuously like the Disney buses. Disney transporation is free to Disney resort guests. I assume there are certain schedules for off-site places. We have drove and flown to WDW and we never need a car for the entire time we are there. We figure why spend the money on gas or a rental car when WDW transportation is free?
