Hi,
I am new to this board. I live near Hershey and going to Disney in May 2008, it's been over 10 years since I have been there. We are staying at POFQ (first time on property) with 2 other couples, adults only we are celebrating milestones birthdays and one couple have never been to Disney. We are so excitied and I have found this board to be a thread of information already.:cool1:

Hi Pamkev! Welcome to our little PA thread! If you haven't been to WDW in 10 years I'd definitely do some homework first. When I went in '98 or '99 I hadn't been there in 10 years & boy had it changed! I was overwhelmed. You'll learn everything you need to know (and thensome) on the DIS Boards!

Graysmom - glad to know someone else made it on a short connection!

Thank you for the welcome Tara. I have been researching this board and all ears. I see alot has changes in 10 years. I am getting really excited and on Nov 12 I will be with phone in hand and making dinner reservations:)

Pam

Hi Pamkev :wave2: I see someone in your party will be celebrating a birthday on your trip. Don't forget to get a "birthday button" at the parks! Of course, you should mention it if you're going to a sit down restaurant too! They usually bring out a "special" little surprise for that person. All good fun! :woohoo: Have fun planning!

Yes there will be two of us celebrating birthdays. I will be turning 50 and someone else will be turing 60. We are going to try to go to California Grill if we can get in to celebrate!:woohoo:

Hi everyone! I am from Cassville, PA.... since I'm sure nobody has heard of that, I am only 10 min from Raystown Lake and about 1 hour south of State College, PA (Penn State Main Campus) or about the same from Altoona, PA.

Hi from DuBois, PA.

Where in Ireland? I was just there on a cruise. I even kissed that darn Blarney stone something I said I would never do. Have fun in Ireland and what a great place to spend a birthday!

Hey Pam (which is my sister's name :thumbsup2 )
I just posted on the UK board to ask for advice where to go? I was there over 25 years ago with first husband and I kissed the stone then. :goodvibes My second husband is an Irishman (Kelly) so I convinced him an Ireland trip was in order. I loved Ireland the first time I was there and can't wait to go back. The first time was pre-internet so we booked a tour through Temple University (I was a graduate student there at the time). This time we are renting a car and just going where we want for 12 days. any advice or websites you can send me would be wonderful? any books you would recommend? email is chaoscent@verizon.net
 Thanks so much. Penny

Welcome Pam! I am over here in the Lancaster area. My mom lives in Hummelstown, not far from Hershey Med Center. Disney is the best place to celebrate any birthday, so you will have a great time!

Chaoscent, I have been to Ireland 2 times in the last 4 years. The first trip we got a fly and drive, B&B package. We were given a catalog with tons of B&B's all over the country and our package included one voucher a night for each participating B&B. So, we booked our first 3 nights before we left the US. Then, for the last 4 nights, we just drove to an area we were interested in and call that day for a nights lodging(again, using our catalog and vouchers for a participating B&B). The second trip, we did everything ala carte. So, we had reservations for the first night in Doolin(east coast of Ireland) then the rest of the week we had this fantastic rental home in County Wexford(west coast of Ireland, south of Dublin). That was kinda central to part of the country we wanted to see. So, we spent one day in Dublin, another in Waterford. Wexford was really nice as well. What areas are you looking to visit? How much time will you be there? I have a ton of great websites that I can PM you.

DH and I love it in Ireland. Next time, I want to visit Northern Ireland. I can't wait. Maybe for our 20th anniversay.

We probably are going to do the voucher thing. A friend just came back and that's what she did & she was happy with it. We are going the last two weeks of August. School doesn't start for me until the day after Labor Day, so that's when I plan on being back at work. :) We don't know where we want to go. We do know we want to visit Northern Ireland, as I wasn't there before. We can't wait. anything you can send me, I would greatly, greatly appreciate.:yay: :yay: :yay:
Thanks, Penny

Kycha,
When I go back to Ireland the way you did it is the way I want to go sounds like fun!

Our very first WDW visit, the September 2007 trip, began 15 days after my husbands birthday and ended 6 days before mine so we did not celebrate there (because it did not fall while we were actually on vacation). Next September we are going a bit later and my birthday happends to fall on our 3rd day there! :cloud9: I am excited, it should be a very memorable birthday!

Can we "cheat" and say it is my DD's birthday? Do you need proof? The reason I am asking is that this trip was origionally supposed to be in April, and we were supposed to be there for her birthday. Something came up that used alot of our finances, so our trip was moved to October because I knew I couldn't have enough money saved by April. This still will be a birthday celebration for her. She will be 5 in April, and for our trip in October. I would love for her to get a call from one of the characters, which I heard is one of the "perks" among other things. Do you think this could be done? Or am I crossing the line in thinking so?

Disney doesn't care that its not your "real birthday" disney knows that people can't always get there on their actual birthday dates so come and enjoy your day and please don't let any of the unpleasant people who might make you think otherwise feel uncomfortable.

Hi all! Does anyone work at the Willow Grove mall Disney Store? I was considering picking up some part time work there and was curious if anyone here worked there or knew someone who did.

My ex-BF wore his birthday pin to AK a few days after his birthday because that was our first day in the parks. A custodial CM at the park figured out it wasn't his birthday and reprimanded him. He was really mean about it - my ex tore his pin off and refused to wear it for the rest of the day. It made me feel really bad for talking him into getting one :guilty:
