I am totally converted!!! - And thats from someone who took two small children (4 and 9mths) to the 'dark side'!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: - no way is it just for teens!!!:goodvibes

My 4 year old loved Seuss' Landing and IOA was definitely our favourite of all the parks. And the restaurants of City Walk leave DTD standing!!!

And my word, Hard Rock Hotel is amazing!!! - I can't wait to go back!!! ::yes::

YES... The HRH is amazing and we also love WDW but Universal's Dark side is soooo coool :cool1: . Glad to hear you had a good time We have extended our WDW trip this summer to go back to Universal though this time we are going to try the Royal Pacific Resort :thumbsup2 .

Nice to hear that you enjoyed IOA And US :goodvibes

Keep the goodness to yourself. We don't want many people finding out about the amazing Universal Orlando benefits, more for us =D

Glad you enjoyed it also:thumbsup2
The darkside,oh a wonderful place is it not?

I couldn't agree more. We just got back from Orlando and went to US for one day. We also ate dinner at CityWalk twice (Nascar and NBA). We were so impressed with everything. I liked how everything is so compact. We loved all of the rides (except we didn't go on the Mummy-too chicken!). We bought the Express Passes which were great, but even the regular lines seemed much shorter than at Disney. If there is anyone out there wavering, you should try it.

I'm thrilled to hear that you and your family had such a wonderful time! :goodvibes I noticed in your signature the next trip you're planning. Poly, DCL and HRH...what an incredible vacation that'll be! Lucky you! New Years is a lot of fun at Universal. Happy planning! :)

Thanks AllieKat!! :thumbsup2 It will be a big trip - that's why I've got to wait until 2010 to return!!!:rotfl:

Never mind - I think I enjoy these boards and the planning as much as the trip itself (well almost!!:goodvibes :goodvibes ):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Wow! I am so glad you enjoyed your trip! Usually converts have children that are a little older so I think you are a new record! We converted a couple of years ago. We own DVC and take one big trip to WDW a year and at least 2-3 trips to Universal a year for several nights with one night stay in our DVC. We noticed the trend as the family got older. We love both WDW adn UO but seem to migrate towards Unviversal more. Not sure how much longer we will be able to make multiple trips considering cost of airfare. Your 2010 trip sounds awesome!

Hi! - I was very surprised that we loved UO so much - we really expected it to be an 'adult' couple of days - but our DS4 loved Seuss' landing (more so than anything ANYWHERE!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ) and as an avid Spiderman fan I think IOA was by far our favourite place with him!!:goodvibes

DH and I just found the whole place much more compact than Disney and therefore it was so much more relaxing with young children::yes::

We were also really pleased with the choice of restaurants at CityWalk and my word - we are in love with the Hard Rock!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Although we will go to Disney next time (our youngest will then be 3 & 1/2 - so I must at least take him once for his 'proper' trip) - I actually think if it was just the two of us I could easily spend my whole trip at UO - which as a Disney addict for the last 30 + years that really is something!!!:lmao:

Don't get me wrong, I still love WDW, but for a more relaxing, 'chilled' break - I don't think you can beat on-site at UO!!!:yay: :yay:

AMEN!!!!!!!!

We are here in Orlando now, and have had a whole week's pass to Universal, CW, and IA. We also saw Blue Man Group, and that was TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS!!

I can't stand Disney anyway, but because DD9 is with DH and I, and she's never been to Disney, yesterday we took her to Epcot. NO COMPARISON! I love the countries in Epcot, and Soarin' was out of this world, but NOTHING compares to Universal!

Plus, DD was more into Universal because of Nickelodeon, Simpsons (even though I don't let her watch it, lol), Shrek, Jaws, etc. We went on the Simpsons ride today and it is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I love this place!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We got back 2 weeks ago. Our dd's are 10 and nearly 3. We bought the $86/7 day passes to US/IOA. We too are completely converted!! The parks were much nicer than we expected. Also, I was surprised at what a good job they did of keeping you "shaded" while waiting for rides and shows. These 2 parks are on our family's permanant "must do" list for future vacations.

WE've been DVC'rs since 1993, and had never been tempted to venture out much beyond the mouse and Sea World. I always thought US/IOA would be cheesy, like Six Flags, but wow was I wrong!! We took the kids on every ride that our youngest was tall enough for, and she really loved them all.

With the young kids, we skipped Citywalk, but it looked great too. I loved the covered parking. Our car wasn't blazing hot, the way it usually is. We only did counter service, but I thought the food was better than WDW too.

And I just keep telling everyone about it;) If they donn't here the call,so be it!!More for us!:cool1:

Thanks for posting this! I've never been to Universal and just recently made my reservations at HRH for November. The original plan was to do WDW while trying out this hotel, but, with the tickets for Universal included with our rooms, I just said today that maybe we'd skip Disney altogether this trip (which made me twitch to even say). You've made me feel much better about my decision.

Could you, or someone, tell me if HRH is going to be too wild/loud for someone with sensory issues? Especially at the pool? This is the final issue I'm worried about...

Welcome to the dark side! I've been counting days until our next visit since we got back from our first trip, too. HRH is my favorite hotel EVUH!!!!!! Glad you had such a great time. So, when do we get a full trip report? ;)
