Hi I am new here but have been reading it for a few days now! Sooo much info is on here thanks..... I have a question about these codes that you all are talking about for discounts, What is a code and how do you get them hehe. I am a mom of 2 and we are planning on going to Florida the first week of may, it will be our third time there both other times we stayed off of disney but this year we are thinking of staying on site and any discount would be great! Do you need to join something to get them can you use it in a package deal? Am I able to get a code ? If so how, we live in toronto tho so I am not sure if Canadians can get these code thingies... any help would be great thanks! :rotfl:

Hi!!
Welcome to the DIS!!!!! :cool1:
There is so much info on these boards, you'll be a pro in no time! ;)
The best way for me to answer your questions is by providing this link below. It should answer most of your questions. There have been discount codes in the past for Canadian residents. None right now. Some codes are specific to certain people, like Annual Pass holders, or Florida residents. Some are room only codes for anyone. Here's the link:

I have gone in the beginning of May and it is nice and hot and minimal crowds. Once you stay on site, it's hard to stay anywhere else! I have been able to get a room only, general public code for May, $229 a night at the Boardwalk Inn. But that was awhile ago.
Good luck and I hope you can get a discount!!

Thank you for the welcome! :flower: also thank you for the link I will check it out. Last two times we went we went the first week of may aswell, we have never stayed on a disney property yet tho this time we are. I was just reading up on all the hype about the value resort POP. I personally want to stay at AK but hubby says why spend 465 a night ( yikes thats alot for a room, savannah one tho ) when we won't be in it except to sleep :rotfl2: so being as it will be our first time in a D resort we thought check out the POP for alot less and go from there. This way we can go check out the other ones for next time. We plan on booking this week comming, is it better to get all our hopper passes ect from home or wait ? Last 2 times we did it there. I am so excited hehe since I found this board I am on it from when I wake up, back on it after work till bed !

Welcome Joann, this board is very addicting! :earboy2:

You were given the best advice as to mousesavers.com, it is a wonderful souce of discount info. I think we have all gotten so used to having a discount code that it is hard to imagine paying rack rate. I have used a general room only code once and another time I used a discounted package called "Sunshine Getaway" which was a room only code. The first time I payed rack rate with a AAA package :earseek: just didn't know any better then! :confused3

Good luck on your trip planning. :flower:

I agree with you on justifying the highest rates for rooms you won't be in much, and I also agree with the idea of starting at the least expensive hotel. If you start there, you'll get a basic perspective, then each trip can only be the same or better. (When we were kids we used to stay the super cheap off property places...so it helps give me perspective. ) I almost feel sorry for little kids who stay at the best places on their first trip.

Yes Mickeyluv'r,I guess this way we start cheaper and go check out the rest while there. I am on a link with tons of POP pictures and it looks cool!! I am getting sooo excited I want to book it today but my agent had to take off till the 7th so have to wait till she gets back hehe VicB I went to that site its cool nothing up for us Canadians tho :( but thats ok my hubby is use to me spending money and never getting a deal haha, my agent is awsome tho with finding me great prices I guess I will leave it up to her to what she comes up with either way its POP or AK if I can talk the hubby into the extra 1000 for there LOL

Keep watching that site, when/if general codes come out they will apply to anyone regardless of which country you come from. Usually there aren't any specific codes to us Northern folks, they know we will come anyway!

Question...I'm new too. Just wondering about booking the trip with a travel agent or directly thru Disney. Can you still use the discount codes?
