Finally had time for internet thanks to a pretty bad evening thunderstorm. Boy do they need rain around here!:worship:

THE CAMPGROUND IS EMPTY!!!:eek::thumbsup2:cool1:

It was pretty crowded over the weekend but we found out pretty quickly on Sunday morning it wasn't the triathlon at the campground that had traffic backed up almost to the settlement! A cast member said that the back-up was caused by 600 check-outs that day and I believe it! There is no one here now and it is so peaceful and quiet!:cloud9:

We had a great visit with Denny(homebrew2) the other night and it was so good to see him.

The slide is nice but really nothing to write home about. The kids enjoyed it but were surprised it was such a slow ride down. The little ones will enjoy the splash zone when it is completed and it will add alot to the pool area. We don't use the pool much since we have one at home but it has been very hot this week and has been a welcome break for alot of people.

The parks seem pretty busy but I guess the heat makes it seem alot worse. We leave on Friday and I will try to write my first trip report(with pics!:rolleyes1) when we get home. We are in the 1700 loop and really like it alot. The 1600 has had maybe 5 campers in it the whole time and 1800 and 1900 are pretty much empty as of today. There are more people in the premium loops and for the life of me I can't figure out why. We have stayed in 300, 400, 1300 and 1400 and by far like 1700 the best of them all. IMHO there is no way I would pay more for any site other than a full. They are just not worth it.

By the way(for those that asked), since it seems all the loops are pet-friendly now(no matter what info the front desk or resv. center gives you or where the poop bag things are or the fact you tell them you want a non-pet loop) the dog silencer works GREAT!:lmao: PM me if you want the info and website. There are not many people in our loop but their dogs sure are quiet!;)

shoot- I don't want to use something at the site but I'd love information about silencing the dog in the backyard that faces my backyard! For reals.
(stupid people have a poor bloodhound back there in their tiny backyard that is mostly taken up by their pool and "playground" type swingset/fort/you name it- he's miserable- so he howls day and night. I feel sorry for him and think they are horrible dog owners to do that to him- but he's also driving me crazy for the past TWO YEARS. ugh)

I cant wait to see some pictures! Have great time.........isnt it a bit early for it to be that hot down there?? :confused3

Sounds perfect, empty CG, visiting with friends and quiet dogs. Have a great rest of your trip.

Have fun! Can't wait for the TR and pics. :)

Glad to hear that you are having a great time.

And, that the Fort got some rain. You are right, the rain is badly needed.

Is the 900 loop open yet?

Is the 1000 loop closed?

Enjoy the empty campground! That is a rare treat.

Poor dog!:sad2: Search for dog silencer sold by Good Life on ebay or go to their website dogsilencer.com. We bought ours on ebay because it was a little cheaper than the website.:confused3

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you!

Thanks, and yes they have had record heat down here since we got here last Thursday!:sad2: It is supposed to cool off over the weekend and by the first of next week...mid 80's instead of the mid 90's we have seen.

Thanks Denise! :)

Thanks TCD!

900 should be open Thurs. or Fri. They are putting the last few tables together and that is all that is left from what I can tell.

1000 is closed and they have already done alot of tree removal.

It is sooo quiet around here and the MK was empty today!:goodvibes

The 1600 loop has about 15 campers, 1700 has around 10, there are 0 in 1800 and 5 in 1900. Group camping is empty. The rest of the loops seem maybe a third full and 1400 looks like it has maybe 10 campers max. This is a great time to be here. I could just do without the summer temps and GA. humidity!

We rented a cart from Kenny and have enjoyed it very much! I have said before that a cart is not that big of a deal after coming 4+ times without one, but now I beg to differ. I wouldn't pay Disney's prices for one, but it really is fun to have and such a time saver. Also, the bus transportation is as bad as ever(internal and to the parks). We rode the bus one time to AK and it took 45+ min. We drove it after that in 20. We have not been back on a bus since our first day!

Going to DTD now, not sure if I will have internet until we get home.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!:flower3:

I feel bad for the dogs in the area that aren't barking.:eek: They are being exposed to the noise generated by this silencer when they aren't even barking. :confused3:confused3 Not very fair to them.

We don't leave it on all the time:sad2:, only when there are dogs barking and we are outside. If you want to read about it and how to use it you will understand how it works before you make assumptions about what is fair and what isn't.

Wow, no need to attack me. I was merely stating my opinion.

First - I never said you left it on all the time. If you turn it on when you are outside and a dog is barking don't you think it will affect other dogs that are not barking. Pity the poor dog in the next camper that it getting hit with these annoying powerful high pitched sound waves just because another dog is barking.

Second - I have read about this product and did go to the website you mentioned before I posted my comments. Here is an excerpt from the website -
How It Works Our exclusive Sound Sweep Technology™ fluctuates through a range of sonic (audible) or ultrasonic (inaudible to humans) high pitched sound waves to target dogs with the most annoying frequency. Our Bark Recognition Technology™ ensures the sound frequencies only activate while the dog barks and turns off the precise moment the dog stops barking. Eventually the dog stops barking to avoid being harassed by the powerful ultrasonic sound waves. . ..

I repeat, this doesn't sound fair to the dogs in the area that are not barking and are being exposed to this noise everytime another dog barks. Suppose someone has a high strung, very nervous older dog that is quietly trying to sleep in their camper and all of sudden they are blasted with "the most annoying frequency" sounds. Doesn't sound like much fun for that dog or cats either.

I am a dog lover and have considered using this device when I had a dog that barked but decided not to use it because of my other dog. No point in exposing her to the "powerful ultrasonic sound waves" when she was not the one misbehaving.

I agree, if my dog is being good and you start torturing him with your sonic device I'm not going to be very happy:sad2:
