Hi everyone! I am so so so glad I found this forum. I'm planning my family's first trip to Disney!!!! Hubby and I have never gone and we are taking our daughter who will be 4 when we travel. Our travel dates are April 27th thru May 1st.

I also love planning. I've already made many lists and have picked up lots of stuff for the trip.

I am an open book, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Because I'll be asking lots of questions myself. :earsboy:

Welcome! Have fun planning! Will you be driving or flying? We are leaving soon & are driving this time (also from NC!) We are actually going a few days to Myrtle Beach & then when we get in the car to go home we are telling the kids, surprise, going to Disney! I can't wait!

That sounds like a great surprise for the kids! We are driving. Hubby is from Buffalo, NY and we always drove there. It's about the same distance so we figure we'll just drive down there too. Sure beats the car rental and Hubby's fear of heights. LOL :scared1:

I'm from NC, too. :cool1: We drive to Disney and sometimes stop in Savannah, as we use to live there, too. You're going to have great time and these boards a great and wonderful resource.:worship:

Is there a certain place in Savannah you like to stay/eat, etc.? We will probably stop there too.

Thank you everyone for the welcome! We are probably going to stop in Columbia which is where I was born and raised. There are a few food places I've been craving since 6 years ago when I last visited. And I've already found that this site is the best (even before sliced bread). :thumbsup2

Welcome! I'm from NC also and we always drive. We will probably be stoping overnight somewhere along the SC/GA border on our trip in Oct instead of driving straight through like we usually do. Does anyone recommend a particular hotel along I95?

Thanks!

WELCOME!!! I'm from NC too. My family and I drive to WDW about 8 1/2 hrs from where we live. We are going again in January 2009 and can't wait. We are taking our DGS for the first time along with his mommy and daddy. :yay: We use to take our daughter yearly starting at 10 mos old when we use to live in Miami. When we moved up to NC ten years ago we started going every other year. The inbetween time we visit family and friends back home so we do travel to Florida a lot.

Anyway you will have a wondeful time!    Any questions just ask the DIS. Everyone here is so great! :disrocks:

:tigger:

Greetings from Staten Island New York.

Now for the serious WARNING!!!!!

THIS SITE IS EXTREMELY ADDICTING!!!!!

ENJOY!!!!:hippie:

Wow!!! So many people from NC! I have actually never even been to the state of FL before so this is going to be a trip full of firsts for me. I'm not sure of any hotels along I95 but I'm sure someone around here does.

stemikger, thanks for the warning but alass, it's too late. I've found myself already addicted to people's pretrip planning and the food porn. :lmao: My FIL was from Long Island and a lot of my inlaws now reside in the Buffalo area.

welcome! welcome! I am from NC too!! We drove last fall but this year we are flying.. beyond thrilled that our trip went from 10+ hrs to 1 1/2 hrs!!

I'm from NC too (born & raised). We will be fling for the first time in 6 weeks. We have also driven and it has taken us 9 hours (if no stops). This will be our 25th wedding anniversary so we're doing it in a big way!

Same here. Figured 10 hours with minimal stops. I had thought about flying but figured the cost of airfare and renting car its actually cheaper to just drive it.

Welcome to the boards!

mjaure- look on a travel site for hotels at the savannah airport exit. There is a bunch of brand new hotels. We stayed at a sheraton but there were bunch of Marriot brand and other name brand hotels going up right there. We didn't even hear a plane while staying at the Sheraton either!

Hi from The Triangle! And welcome to the DIS!

We drive when we go as well and I've got a little tip for you! I found this list of all the exits along I-95 and what gas stations and restaurants are at each exit! We used this last Nov. and it came in handy! In fact, we dubbed it the handy dandy list! :thumbsup2

Here is a link to it ~ just click here!

Have a great trip! :drive:

Thanks for the link!! I'll print out some info and put it in with my paperwork to take.

I'm also near the Triad so we aren't that far apart. It really is a "Small World" after all.

Again, thank you everyone for the welcome. I'm so glad I found this site though Hubby isn't. LOL "What are you printing out now?!" Then I'll tell him "Oh, well that's cool." I also have added a few things to my packing list that I didn't even think of. Like antacids and some Tyenol type stuff. I'm going to try my hand today at the PTRs so look for me there. :surfweb:
