Hi from Louisiana

We'll be at the Swan from July 1-8. I got a great teacher discount there. It will be our first stay at the Swan.
Right now on the weather sites it's predicting thunderstorms every day.

WELCOME!! from the chocolat city. LOL:laughing: hope you have a a wonderful time at at the world.

Well I guess this is the site for all folks from LA. I am in Morgan City and used to live in Monroe. I will be taking my family to DW sometime in 2010, I haven't decided on the exact dates yet but I have already started planning our trip. Those of you who are going soon let me know how the trip is. For those of you driving from LA do you do it all in one day for stay over somewhere along the way??:cool1:

Hey Katie and Mazda, I enjoy shopping in Shreveport, esp on the riverwalk/boardwalk(can't think of what it's called). I'm planning a trip up there sometime soon.:)

It's the boardwalk. :) Yeah I love it too .. it's really nice. Good thing I only live 5 mintes from it.. or is that a bad thing. :rotfl2:

we usally fly because you get there in about 1hr 45 min as apposed to 10+ hrs. but when we did drive we went all the way through with 1 to 2 stops.

First to the OP: WELCOME! You'll find alot of good information here.

Also from Monroe. :wave2: We stopped last year at a cheap hotel and slept a couple of hours in Marianna I believe. This year we are going to drive straight though the night and get there. Not a bad drive and in all the excitement of getting there nobody slept that great anyway.

The drive there is always a breeze. We drove the first time, from South MS, left at about 4pm and stayed the night in Marianna, then woke up early the next day and got into WDW about 2pm, and it was nothing. Coming back was bad. I drove the whole time there and back. We left around 2pm from WDW and had a room for that night at Lake City. I was dosing off on the turnpike not 2 hours out of disney. No way I could've driven straight thru one day. The next day when we left I found myself the only one awake out of 6 people around Tallahassee. Long drive back to LA, be prepared.:thumbsup2

Sometimes we fly, sometimes we drive. Flying is great, fast, etc. but I find the stress of the airport and transportation to and from a hassle. We have to drive to New Orleans and leave our car, etc. One time our flight was delayed and we had to spend the night. The whole time I was thinking "I'm missing an extra day at Disney".
Driving, you can do it in one day. This year, though, we've decided to stop in Tallahassee so we can get to our resort earlier and not be exhausted from the drive up. If we leave Tallahassee early enough, we can check into the Swan and enjoy the pool. We'll start the parks the next day.
On the way home, we'll drive straight through because it won't matter if we get home exhausted --- we can sleep all we want.

WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!

I love the Dis lol!

Im originally from New Iberia.. aka "the Berry" lol and now living in Denham Springs after several yrs in Baton Rouge.

Just booked a last minute vacation for July 13-19! We are crazy! My husband and I kept going back and forth between a TN vacation with Dollywood/Splash Country and the mountains... or a Northern Louisiana State Park cabin stay for the summer's vacation. Well.... after I led him to "just look" at the passholder rates and compare what we would spend at either of the others... YUP! I got him! He is like a three-year-old now... we aren't telling our six and ten year old children. They will think we are heading to TN. The ten year old is sure to figure out somewhere near the FL line - if he is not asleep while we drive. Yes... ugh... drive. We are driving. Welcome to the Disboards... and hold on tight... it is addictive. We were at Disney in December and then went back for Mardi Gras... and now here we go again! Crazy! But soooooooo much fun. We Louisianians are all about the party... and we are bringing that spirit to The World. Welcome!

OMG! I'm sooo addicted to this board. I just found it last week and all that weekend I was on here reading and reading and reading. My boyfriend was like your still on the internet, and I'm thinking to myself, I'm still on the same website! :rotfl2:

WELCOME WELCOME. You'll love this site. It's addictive!! I'm from northern Louisiana outside Bossier City. We leave 6July for pop century for a week then on to Daytona Beach to play in the sand. We're gonna drive and sight see along the way. It's really not that bad of a drive as long as you know when to stop and rest. You can find out a ton of info (probably more than you ever wanted to know).

I wonder if they have a 12 step program??:rotfl2:
