Hi from Germany!

Natalie,

I know this is completely off the topic of WDW, however when I saw you were from Germany I just had to say hi. I have a soft spot in my heart for Germans. My DD needed a bone marrow transplant in November and she had no matches in the US, her donor came from Germany. He saved my daughter's life and I will forever be grateful to him, hence the soft spot for Germans.

Have a wonderful time in WDW,
Suzanne

Suzann-that´s a wounderfuul story! All my best wishes to you and your DD. That reminds me to be thankful for two healthy kids ...

Once again thanks everyone for this welcome-I can feel the Disney spirit :))

babystern - Just wanted to say welcome. I initialling read your post out of curiosity but when I saw that your DD is named Lorena I had to comment. That is my mother's name. I know we have Scottish ancestry (Campbell, Duncan) but I also thought we had some German.

I hope you enjoy your travels and I hope to make to Germany myself soon.

Guess we should plan a DIS-Meeting in Germany :cheer2:
My husband chose Lorenas name and a guidebook of names I read that this name comes from an english source (but italian people like it very much, too)
Hope to find some time to show you some pictures of my family in our Disney/USA themed kitchen ;)

Guten Tag! :goodvibes (Left over German from college 1993..ha)
We live in the Big Ol' Melting Pot, and I can totally understand the appeal of Christmas time in the city :)
New York is alot like Epcot, all of the countries on 1 Burough. While we are total China Town people, there is definately something for everyone here. And you get more for your bang with the holiday decor and glamed up landmarks. Gotta love a city that has the one and only PRINCE playing Bryant Park for free out in the city air! That will forever be my best NY minute, and this just happened only 2 weeks ago.
We (me, dh, ds2) will be at the World in September also-first time in September. While I am not as seasoned a Dis-er as others, welcome all the same! And the best for your New York holiday return.

My cousin's son has just been stationed somewhere in Germany and may be deployed soon after but we talked about visiting him over the Christmas holidays but nothing firm yet. Right now it is all talk!

My DS16 and I are going to be at WDW 8/18 -24 with a three night cruise on the Disney Wonder to follow!

oooooooooooh Disney Cruise :thumbsup2 This is on top of my whishlist. But cruising with kids under 4yrs will be too much action for parents IMO. A good idea during school holidays....

@debbie: if he lives in south Germany (Nürnberg/Stuttgart) there is a good chance for snow over Christmas. Otherwise you should this about a raincoat

HERZLICH WILKOMMEN, Babystern! there are a few of us about here, I can think of Renate_do and Markus over on the Disneyland Paris boards.....

Welcome and enjoy yourself!!!
Bavaria (ok, Bayern!)

DCL is cruising the Med next year...it's closer to you, yes??? ;)

Another Wilkommen from me! My parents lived 3 years in Lemberg (near Pirmasens) and we lived in Heidelberg for 7 years. Love and miss it! My 18yo daughter just spent a week in Kaiserslautern with friends and she loves it now, too.

Have a wonderful time on your holiday!

Tchuss!

:welcome: to the Dis boards. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My family crest is from the Dusseldorf area. My great-grandfather came here from Germany (settled in Ohio). Some day I WILL get to Germany to see my family heritage. We still have quite the family line that lives in that area.

:wizard: Hope you have a magical vacation!! :wizard:

Welcome Natalie,
I hope your trip works out nicely. We so wanted to go to Germany this Sept. My husband is from Munich (Furstenfeldbruck, actually) and his sister is getting married. But, flight for the 5 of us (DH, me, DD10, DS5 and DD4) would be almost $5000. And then passports, train passes, food (brezen and weiss bier, danke) it would probably be close to $10,000! So, we decided against going this year. The good part is now we decided to take a vacation somewhere else. The kids want to go back to Disneyworld, hence I find myself lurking here.

Hallo!

I am new to the boards, a fellow German, and wanted to say Hello. My grandmother lives in Berlin and my mom moved here in her 20's. Go Germany!!!!! (We are enjoying the World Cup)

Enjoy your trip - we are taking our first trip to Disney with the kids in November -- very excited!!

Tschuss-
Karen
