Ok, this may be one of the weirdest questions, and I don't know if it has
been ever asked before, but here goes.

I have noticed ALOT of people from UK and Western Europe are flocking to WDW, and I have a question. Do you like WDW better then EuroDisney?

Just wondering, because it seems like it would be kinda expensive and out of the way for y'all to make the trip to Orlando. I mean , to me its like someone from Oregon comming to WDW instead of DL. But hey, you guys are always welcomed here in the US. :grouphug:
Just a question! Don't hit! :earboy2:

Hi there!!

I can only speak for myself personally but these are my thoughts.

DLP is a lovely "short break" destination. But there are only one and a half parks there (well, there are two but the Studios doesn't have that many attractions) and you'd be pushed to spend more than 4 days there.

WDW obviously has so much more to offer in terms of parks / waterparks /other diversions etc but also is in the wonderland that is Florida :teeth: where the weather is hot, the shopping is great, the food is cheap and the entertainment second to none. I could spend 4 weeks here and not see all of just the Orlando area, and I haven't even started on the beaches.....

The other thing is that DLP is relatively expensive - for example a 4 night break there with transport cost me almost the same as 2 weeks in Florida did the year before :earseek:

I think that kind of answers your question :)

I have the same thoughts. DLP is great for a short break, we went at Christmas in 2001 and are hoping to go back this Christmas. There isn't as much to do as in WDW.

Yes and no!! They are such different types of trip despite the fact you're "going to Disney"!! I love Disneyland Paris. The main park (Magic Kingdom) is charming and has some great rides - some of the rides are a improved version of the ones in WDW. But it has very mixed weather and we like to go before Christmas, so it's very cold!! The friendliness of the CMs can also vary tremendously and the Studios isn't yet a very impressive second park. But I've still had some wonderful short trips there.

WDW, on the other hand is the one to visit if you want at least a fortnights holiday - preferably (much) longer. The weather is usually lovely, there are three other parks which are just as much fun as the Magic Kingdom and the CMs are great. The whole Disney property is so attractive and wonderfully different to anythng we're used to over here. There's something about sun and palm trees!!! I find DLP has a much more urban feel to it (and the palm trees are few and far between!! :D)

I'm sure most people will say that they much prefer WDW, despite DLP being relatively so much handier for us. DLP is a great place for a few days for that Disney fix, but WDW is the proper holiday!!

In my opinion there is only one thing better in DLP than Florida-Space Mountain! Nothing else compares to me. I find it very expensive and it does not have the magic or the weather compared to Florida.

Where to start? Orlando > France because of ...

The weather.
The welcome.
The value.
The food.
The entertainment.
The shopping.
The experience.
The people.

Oh shucks! I'm just biased I guess! I've never met an American I didn't like and each time we've been the experience feels better. Given the choice, I would personally choose America over France every time.

Just curious, what would make the one in France so much more expensive?? I mean are the tickets themselves more expensive?

I agree 100% with this post! I've been to WDW, DL and DLP and there really is NO comparison! I know what people are saying about DLP being good for a disney-fix but to me it didn't FEEL like Disney at all! It could have been any theme park - the superficial trapping were there - the castle the rides etc - but the Disney magic was missing!

With regards to the cost - unlike the USA where competition means you can get a reasonably priced meal etc - the businesses around DLP just hike the prices up to try to get as much cash out of the tourist as possible! I know food etc is dear in all the parks but at DLP it seemed excessively so - also the mela sizes for your money were defiantly NOT American sized if you get my drift!

I COULD have taken my DD to DLP over the last 4 years but would much rather save my money and do WDW or DL!!!!! :D

I agree the food was pricey in comparison to Florida but that's a least in part due to the exchange rate situation just now.

We agree that overall the CMs were not as good as those in WDW but they were not all surly, rude or indifferent. We found lots of them very good fun, happy to chat and play about (for example I wore a Sorceror Mickey Hat when I went as it was very cold, and the Pirate CMs in Adventureland had lots of fun grabbing it off my head and then not giving it back.)

To me DLP was just as magical as WDW. Just smaller and without the good weather and the proximity to the rest of Florida!

ITA!! Especially when you're in the Magic Kingdom park itself - I think it has it's own special charm :)

Back in 1992, I saw an advert for EuroDisney and thought it would be wonderful to take our daughters (then 7 & 5). The following day, I made the trip to the Travel Agents, all set to book my 4 day trip.

The cost was £1000. The TA said, "For £2000, you can have 14 days in Florida, with guaranteed sunshine!". And so our love affair with WDW (and Orlando) began. We take our 12th trip in April and we've still never made it to DLP!

Because NO-ONE can do Disney like the Americans!! I'm looking forward to my 11th trip in June to Florida. Have NEVER, EVER been tempted to go to France.

Glad to hear someone appreciates Americans. Could you tell me what the average exchange rate from pounds to dollars is? Do Euros have the equivialent exchange rate?
It must be such a value to come here from England with favorabel exchange rates.

People come from Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland as well - known collectively as the United Kingdom or Great Britain!

At the moment the exchange rate is great (for us) with around $1.82 to the £1.00.

In recent years it has gone as low as $1.50 so you can understand why it is such good value for visitors from the UK.

David

Aye, last time we came over the rate was $1.50 to the pound and we found America to be good value then. At $1.80+ (which we've bought most of our money at), the value is even better.

I know many people like EuroDisney ( Or EuroDismal as its known in Private Eye ), but speaking personaly, I have no desire whatsoever to go there, and never will. If the French can burn our sheep alive and refuse to accept our Beef when it was perfectly safe, then I can refuse them my vacation trade....not that I bare grudges you understand ;-).

Agree that DLP is a short break park and no more. It is v expensive for food with McD's in the village the only reasonably price place to eat. The lack of choices of places to stay make the hotels v busy all year round, it makes you feel like being herded like cattle at breakfast time :crowded: . Apart from the above and the weather I really enjoyed it but the Europeans wind me up to almost snapping point at least twice a day and you dont need that on holiday.
Special :wave2: to all our French and German cousins.

Cant compare to WDW as I have not been as yet, oh and boy am I looking forward to that :earsboy:
