Howdy friends & neighbors!

We're back at the BCV...we were at SSR for T-giving...so far, despite wondering if I'll ever get tired of this place, there's no sign of any lessening of the magic!

We have a one-bedroom on the 4th floor, overlooking the courtyard in front (in back?) of the Marketplace, w/the Solarium and entrance to the BCI off to the right...lovely...the room is clean and nice (scuffed table, burnt-out bulb in the lamp that maintenance came and fixed within minutes of me mentioning it (and telling them there was no rush at all)...otherwise, "perfect." Got it around 3 (arrived at noon)...longest wait for a room we've ever had but since it was before 4, can't complain at all...

Internet still costs $9.95/day...I asked MS about it yesterday (was calling about another trip)...they told me it would be spring when high speed internet becomes free...

It's cool here in the World...high today was around 65...which by me is just about perfect walking-around weather...and since it was 18 when I left home this morning, it felt wonderful! It's supposed to warm up as the week progresses...

Christmas is still up, but coming down...the chocolate carousel is gone, but the trees & garlands are still up...walked around Epcot this afternoon, and it, too, has some of its Christmas still up and some already down...the CMs are saying it'll all be down by the end of the weekend...

Check-in in the BCV lobby was a dream...such NICE people!

Have I mentioned that we love it here? (Grin a huge grin...how many of you have I bored senseless w/my paeons of love for DVC!)...

We may wander over to the 8:30 Fantasmic show...or we may just hang out here...DS was up all night (college student hours!), and i was up late last night and then up again early this morning (getting everything done at home in order to get out of town this morning!)...so we're tired...we may or may not have enough energy to "wander" tonight...of course, Epcot is so close...we may mosey on over there just for fun...those APs are wonderful for guilt-free short "hops" ... just to watch "my" fountain dance for 15 minutes, and then home again...

Dinner at Cape May...it was its usual wonderful...hadn't eaten there in 2-3years so it was time to return...

Anyone need anything? Happy to check on anything you want checked out...

Happy new year to everyone...Dani

sounds wonderful - have a great time and take/post lots of pictures.

pictures pictures pictures.

did i mention i'd love to see pictures???

We'll be there next week - any chance you remember what was on the cape may buffet? The desserts?

Thanks for the report!!

Kurby--sadly, I've never learned how to post pix onto the internet...I'll see if I can talk DS into taking a camera phone pic or two and posting...but I'm pretty much computer-incompetent (I can do word processing, email, and internet "browsing" and that's about it)...

Sandy: the buffet tonight had tilapia as the fish of the day...ribs, beef stew, a pasta of the day that had some kind of fish in it...chicken, roast beef, brocolli, green beans (which were really good!), the "usual" salads (one called "citrus salad"--mixed greens w/a fruity vinagraitte dressing--was wonderful), corn bread, rolls, all kinds of fish & shell fish (we don't eat fish so can't get too specific w/that), the usual kids' stuff (mac 'n cheese, chicken nuggets, little hot dogs, etc.)...desserts were "mickey cupcakes" (looked like yellow cupcakes w/white icing and sprinkles on top), brownies, blondies, flan, little pumpkin cheesecake "bites", key lime tarts, and german chocolate "cake-lets" (the size of a small brownie)...we had the blondies & the german chocolate "cake-lettes"...very good...

Sigh...I can't take & post pix but I can remember every food choice...says something about me, doesn't it???

But we're SO happy to be here!

Looks like we're not going out tonight...DS is crashed on the couch and my bed is looking mighty inviting! There's yoga on the beach in the morning...think I'll go down for that...movies on the beach running too...we'll definitely try one of those...

By the way: USAir is now participating in ME--that's great news for us (we most often fly USAir...being able to check our bags here at Disney rather than having to haul them from where ME drops us off up to the check-in area at the airport will be WONDERFUL!...getting here ME was great...longest line I've ever encountered (even including the marathon last year and T-giving)...but it moved quickly and we got on a bus (and the bus left) right away...first stop was CB, then BW, then BC...so it took almost as much time once we got to Disney as it took to get to Disney! But still we were here within an hour of the plane landing...and our luggage was in our room when we got back from our very early (5:30) dinner...gold stars for ME this trip!

Off to sleep...gotta restore some energy for park-ing tomorrow! We're going to start w/Epcot...try to get there at opening to get on Soarin'! Hope everyone has as good a day as we hope to have tomorrow! Dani

Thanks! That's the best report of the Buffet I've read!! Dh was hoping there was a fish on the buffet!! Talipia sounds good!

I think to upload pictures you have to have a hosting site like photobucket.com - so you get your pictures on your computer, then go to photobucket and click upload and pick which pictures you're going to post -

from there its real easy - photobucket has a link for message boards you just copy (it starts with .... then come back to your post and paste the link!!

then post!!

So glad you're enjoying your trip:goodvibes

We love the BCV proximity to world showcase, and the AP's really do make short hops possible and fun.

Your report just makes us even more happy about our next trip, which luckily for us is in only three weeks:cool1:

Sounds great, Dani! Glad you are getting wonderful DVC memories after your rocky start!

Thanks for the report we'll be there in March! I know this is not the Dining thread but.....where else do you plan on eating? DDE?
Keep havin a great time.

Happy Sat a.m. everyone...just back from a 60-minute exercise walk around the Boardwalk area (thru the Swolphin, over to MGM, around Crescent Lake)...feeling GOOD!

Thanks for the pic-posting tips...not sure they'll work (it was like reading Japanese (which I don't read!)...but one of these days I'll scrounge up the "courage" to give it a try...

We don't do DDE, DisneyFix...we're trying the new DDP this trip...so far (on just one day--arrival day) we're doing no more than breaking even...we didn't use our snacks yesterday, but had we, we figured we saved $5 over what we would have spent had we been totally out-of-pocket...

Our ADRs (which may -- probably will -- change) are: tonight, Garden Grill/The Land; tomorrow: San Angel Inn; Monday, Boma; Tues, CA Grill; Wed, the new restaurant at Japan (don't at the moment remember its name); and Thurs O'Hana's at the Poly...we go home next Fri...

Epcot was "stuffed" yesterday (it was EMH last night over there)...lots of people walking over to the Studios this morning (it's EMH over there this morning)...we're guessing end-of-holiday crowds plus the weekend mean today will be another crowded day...maybe tomorrow, too...we'll see what Sun night/Monday brings...

We don't care all that much about crowds, tho (altho I admit the stories of Christmas week--which we've never done--are daunting!)...we come so often that we find it pretty easy to "work around" the crowds...

DS is now out of the shower, into which I am now going...then over to Epcot to try to ride Soarin, Test Track, Mission Space, et al...we should be there at opening...

Happy day everyone! Dani

Enjoy the Magic!!

Thanks for the report!!

I'll go ahead and ask - there are a few reports (2 from CM's at restaurants) on the state of the 2008 DDP - but what we really are curious about is how is the snack thing going?

Used to be you could get anything that was $4 or less - now its a single serving item (so no donuts, bag of chips etc) Popcorn is supposed to be ok - but no more cotton candy!! A piece of fruit, a bottle of water, a brownie, etc

so I'll be interested in how your snacks are handled, or what you hear around the Boardwalk...

Thanks for the great reports!!

Is the greater back to work in the lobby of BC? Tell him hello from Chris in Jersey.

After a really terrific Epcot-centered day yesterday, we're getting a slow (late) start this morning...I'm up and ready (took my exercise swim in the Villas pool; what a great way to exercise!) and just had a really, really good "made to order yogurt parfait" (w/granola, straweberries, blueberries & raspberries) for a snack credit at the BC Marketplace...DS is still sound asleep!

About the new DDP and snack credits: yes it's true...no longer can you get a box of donuts for a snack credit...not sure how I feel about that...we just about always got a box of donuts for a snack credit in the past...which no doubt added to the extra pounds we bring home w/us from Disney! And I find I have no desire at all to buy a box of donuts! Still...it was a good value that is no longer availalbe...

On the other hand, our last trip here the yogurt parfait was available as part of a counter service b'fast meal (w/juice/fruit and a beverage), but not as a snack credit. It is now available as a snack credit. For me, this is a very positive change...

There is a greeter in the BC lobby (or there was yesterday, anyway...he gave us a very nice welcome...altho you can't beat the CMs at the Villas check-in area...they are THE nicest, friendliest people I've ever encountered at Disney...and Disney is full of nice, friendly people!!!)...however, the greeter's name badge did not say "Art" (or any full name for which Art might be an abbreviation)...we didn't pause to chat...we were headed to a dinner reservation and were a bit short on time...he was very nice, but there wasn't enough of an "encounter" for me to have really noticed it...

All of Christmas at BCV was down as of this morning...in a way, a little sad to bid goodbye to Christmas...in another way, it's time and it's good to see things back to normal...

We're headed over to the Studios this morning (or, since DS is sleeping in, maybe this afternoon!)...it'll take me a while to get used to the new name (it officially goes into effect tomorrow, per the local news this morning)...Hollywood Studios instead of MGM for some reason seems "hard" for me to remember/say...but whatever its name, I'm looking forward to spending some time over there...Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Fantasmic, and Brown Derby are in our near-term future!

Oh, it's just bliss to be at Disney!

Happy day everyone...Dani

Can't wait to go in Aug. We are staying for 6 nights. Thanks for the great updates. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great trip so far....

Just looked at the weather today...

looks like 80 degrees and sunny all week:cool1:
cant beat that.
enjoy
Kerri

We were at Cape May on the 4th too :)and on the 7th! The buffet was great.I have read reports that it has not been as good and there has not been as large of a selection as in the past..but that wasn't true when we were there. They did have mussels: plain and in a light tomato like sauce, clams: plain and in garlic sauce, small boiled potatos, corn on the cob that was GOOD (I get one every year and take a few bites but it is usually so water logged it is terrible) breaded talapia that was great one night and salmon another night that was quite good, pizza (didn't try this), clam chowder and another soup ( I believe mushroom one night and cant remember what it was the other) seafood pasta salad , boiled shrimp, mushroom salad, fresh fruit salad, ceasar salad, plain salad, citrus salad, a slaw and a few more things at the salad bar that I can't remember, chicken, mashed potatoes with chunks of potatoes that are to die for, sausage and peppers, beef stew, brocolini, greens beans in a garlic type of butter, pasta of the day, sliced pork one day, ribs, corn bread and freshly sliced beef and mini corn dogs, small chicken tenders and honey mustard sauce if desired and mac and cheese and rolls
The desserts were what have been listed above although I have to add that the flan is topped with fresh raspberries, huckleberries, and blueberries and I believe there were also cookies. Now you know why we ate there twice........:cloud9:

Hi, folks...sorry it's been so long since I checked in--things got kind of crazy for us...first work (pesky stuff, that paid work--grin) went a little nuts, which took up more time than I'd have liked (but I'm very grateful I can manage it from here--it lets me come!), and then I got news that my uncle died and so we've been scrambling to arrange our logistics so we can get to Chicago for the funeral...we'll be leaving here a day early (could have been much worse logistically speaking)...

Will post a recap when I get home (did a DDP "review" in the "will you use DDP in 2008" thread if you're interested in that...the new DDP is not "bad," but it's not "good enough" for us to be interested in it again...too much planning involved to make it a good value for us...but by no means "bad"...

BCV has been wonderful; WDW has been wonderful...no complaints of any kind...

Will "talk" to you all next week...Dani

I can answer that for you. we were htere for dec 28 through jan 6th. up until New years day you could still get a bag of bagels, etc for a credit. On January first the computer changed and it was a single serve item only. I asked them to try to run the card through and she tried and it will only allow for a single serve item now. No more bags of bagels, or english muffins or donuts.:sad1:
