Hi everyone - I'm kind of new here, so if this is a silly question, please forgive me.
I found myself in Manhattan yesterday, and made my first trip to "World of Disney" on 5th Ave. I live in NY, so don't ask me why this was my first trip there. Maybe I'm still going thru withdrawl since I've been home from AKL for a whole week already.
Anyway - 3 floors of Disney in the middle of the Big Apple - gotta love it. I was surprised to see they have a lot of the theme park souvenirs and things that I bought in Florida and stuffed in my suitcase to give to DS for his b-day and Christmas. You could also meet/greet/photo with characters there (Cinderella and Snow White yesterday, but apparently they rotate them).

I also saw an entire section dedicated to Mickey/NYC merchandise - Statue of Liberty/Yellow Taxi/Times Square stuff that was really cute. Also lots of pins that were NYC related and marked as Limited Editions. (Apparently now that we're HOME, DH is becoming interested in pins. Go figure.)
My question is - is this the only place to find the NYC pins/stuff? Does that make it more valueable/collectible/interesting to collectors? Also, me being a pin novice...is the Halloween 2006 pin different than a MNSSHP 2006 pin?
TIA!

To bad you weren't there today - they have monthly pin trading on the first Saturday of each month and I heard it was great (I couldn't go, but DW went).

Value is in the eye of the beholder. WOD does have some pins that can only be bought there, but you really can't tell how valuable they will be. When the second Pirates movie came out, the NYC Pirates pin was extremely valuable. The halloween pin (with the yellow cab - pinpics #49776) is only available in New York.

At MNSSHP they released a new pin every night - and they were all different than this pin.

Thanks for the reply - I think DH is starting to get interested in the pin collecting so the info about the monthly pin trading was very helpful!

Actually all pin trading nights have been stopped. There's no news yet if Disney will bring them back.

NYC pins are valuable only to people who collect them. I have a friend who picks them up for me periodically but I don't go out of my way to get them.

MNSSHP pins are Halloween pins but are only sold during the parties. There are other Halloween pins too. Lots and lots of other Halloween pins.
