HHN07: Carnival of Carnage!!

last year was the first year i have experienced a sunday hhn to be crowded.
i went the 3 day weekend of columbus day.

a couple of reasons it was crowded:
many off work on the next day, monday columbus day.
many bought the frequent fear pass which allows entry to hhn on each non peak night. sunday is a non peak night.

saturday hhn is open to 2 am
sunday it closes at midnight.

with all considerations, you are better off going on the sunday.
the next day is not a legal holiday for you which will eliminate some crowds.
you made the right choice.
use the stay and scream area for a head start on the houses.
you don't want to be waiting in the line outside the gate and have to go thru the metal detectors.

use the ep when the lines are at 20 minutes wait.
you can do at least 3 houses before you have to use the express pass if you start in the stay and scream area.

Thank you for all the info.

you are welcome.
diamond diva, crowds vary per date and weather.

but, the beginning of the month of hhn is always lighter than the end of the month.

i believe that happened when robosaurus was opened.

i left on oct 9th last year and it had to be the friday/saturday of that week ioa was opened up. maybe the 13th or 14th...

I thought it was later than that...we left on the 22nd last year and it was after we were already home because we were reading all the ranting about it on the Vault the next day...I thought it was the Sat before Halloween but wasn't sure :confused3

Only 5 weeks until we're flying down!!

you could be correct lee.
two different years ioa was opened up.
guess it was 05 on the earlier date.

but when robosaurus opened, the crowds swelled for that event.

i missed it by days last year

i'll check the vault. they have all the answers there.

even if ioa would be open for every hhn night, i would probably take a pass and stay with the studio side.
i spend 5 days at UO and i do plenty of rides during the daytime.

We were there the 13th, I think which was a sunday. Robosaurus was there then. IOA was open that sunday night because attendance was reaching record numbers. It was a week when a lot of schools had out that monday, and then had out thursday and friday. Talk about a true hell week.
05 They had it in both parks, but it was mostly in IOA. Only Mummy Twister Shrek and Jimmy were open...it was the walk from hell. 04 had both parks also, and it was all of IOA and half of USF again. It was closed from MIB on back. That was the year they had Deadtropolis, and the first Castle Vampyre.

ok I think I've got it figured out...I just pulled up my 2006 itinerary and the 13th was a Friday...we were there the 12th which was Robo's first night and the crowds weren't bad at all...

The years are really starting to blur together...I'm either getting old or going mental (or some combination thereof)

We were there the last Thursday and Friday of October last year and they had IOA open Friday for sure, can't remember about Thursday night though?

Universal has some basic decorations up...mostly in the front of the park and back around Fear Factor...here are a few I took today.

This is one of the speakers used for HHN:

Hmmmmmm...I wonder what those dirty carnival banners mean? ;)

There's no doubt about what's going on here:

This area is between MIB and the Coke station and was used last year to get to the "tented" houses (The People Under The Stairs and Psychopath: The Return of Norman Bates) and they are going to do it again this year since it's boarded up so no one can get back there.

The thing that amazed me at my first HHN in 2004 was all the stuff you see when the park let's you into the behind the scenes area. You have no idea how big the Studios is until you've walked all around the park for HHN! :thumbsup2

I asked a clerk at the Universal store about when the HHN merchandise was going to show up. She told me not until 9/28 at the Studios and probably the next day at IOA.

This is going to be our 2nd HHN and we are just so thrilled, so p***ed scared, so psyched at the same time! :scared1:

We are looking forward to the Haunted Houses and the syringe shots! Can't wait to encounter those Bad Boys: Freddy, Jason, Leatherface as well as Fire, Ice and the Hulk!! And really am excited for the tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show....I am a bit of a RHPS fan, but have been out of the scene if you will for some time. This will be a nice welcome. It would have been really cool if Universal had managed to get a hold of some of the cast members from the movie to be there for this...popcorn::

According to hhnvault.com they've converted the Tooniversal store in CityWalk to the HHN store.

^ It's a general Halloween store. They sell costumes and accessories, not HHN merchandise.

Ohhhhh. I thought someone said they had Jack all over the place in there....guess not:confused3

As of right know you probably won't be riding Fire, Ice and the Hulk at Halloween Horror Nights.
