We are going to be at Universal during the first night of HHN. DH and I are thinking about taking the kiddos to the kids room at Hard Rock Hotel, and getting tickets to HHN (Oct 2) What is there? We wouldn't go through any haunted houses, etc...but would love to see it all decorated. Is it worth the $$$ to go for the evening and check it out or would you pass on it?

how old are your kids?

there are no kids price tickets for hhn.
you would be buying 5 adult tickets to walk around the park and do rides.

check out the cost of tickets.
if you want to drop $69.99 per ticket per person, it is up to you.

i think there is a special for that date you mentioned for discounted tickets but still that is a lot of $$ to put out for rides and walking in the park.

i wouldn't pay that much for it if i was only going to walk around the park.
i would go for the 7 day promo 2 park tickets and go in the daytime for the rides.

i go for the houses and don't do the rides at night for hhn.

I have to ditto on that reply! That is a lot of money to spend just to walk around and not go into the houses. The houses are what you are paying for. There really aren't "decorations" per say. There are scare zones. If you aren't interested in the houses, you may not be interested in the scare zones either. It isn't like walking around Disney looking at pumpkins and hay-stalks. No offense since I do love Disney as well. HHN is for those that want the thrill of being scared For what you want, you would be much better off going during the day when it is less crowded and enjoy your walking around. HHN can get packed!

I think the OP was talking about going without the kids, and just the two of
them attending HHN.

I would not think that it is worth the money to just walk around ,though
it could be some what of a culture shock to you compared to what Universal
is normally like during the day.(big difference). very crowded, very loud and
somewhat of a adult atmosphere. But I personally love it!!!.

I think if you like being surprised, scared ,laughing out loud and just letting
loose, go for it, the most that can happen.....probably will;)

Yes tricky...we weren't going to take the kids. They are only 9 and 6 years old. We were going to take them to the kids room at the Hard Rock. So the HHN is haunted houses. I didn't know that is what they did there. DH won't want to do that. He doesn't enjoy haunted houses. Thanks for letting me know what it would be like....I really had no idea.

If you have a day ticket on a night when HHN is happeneing. You can see some of the decorations, fog, HHN music etc. right before the park closes for the day guests. They usually start getting ready for the event the last hour before the park closes--- Nothing really scary, no haunted houses or scareactors yet but just the decor.

Right...you get glimpses of HHN but nothing that will give it away. Here are a few pictures from last year during the day...it kinda gives you the idea of what to expect during daylights hours. I doubt many people knew what the banners meant. The third picture is a speaker.

IMO, the scare actors that sneak up behind the people walking around can be almost as scary as the houses. I can't remember seeing them last year, but the chainsaw guys out there can be pretty terrifying too. I have seen people run out of their shoes (for real) trying to get away from them. no getting around them. they go after EVERYBODY. scream, and they go after you that much more.

I think if you wouldn't enjoy the houses, you wouldn't enjoy walking around outside while it is going on either. that in itself is scary enough.

:lmao: My DD was one of the ones that "ran" out of ther shoes last year! :rotfl: :lmao: I told the scareactor that it was her Birthday, told him her name & not only did he chase her, he called her by name. :lmao: She didn't realize I told him :rotfl: He chased her clear thru his zone :lmao: When she finally was away from him, she burst out laughing, but not while she was running, she was screaming then :lmao:

I'm 47 and they always think they can mess with me. what I do is stop, smile at them and say something like "neat costume" and they always turn on their heel and go after someone else. :rotfl:

I used to run and scream, but after the first couple of years of attending HHN's, I got brave and actually enjoy all the work they put into it. I would love to be able to go through a house by myself and take some time to look around. scare actors in there and all. :)

:lmao: I would have loved to have seen that! I saw one woman take off running, lost a flip flop, and I never did see her go back and get it. or at least she didn't while we were there. :scared1:

The scareactor should be allowed to keep it as a reward for their success!:rotfl:

last year todd and i did a night at hhn and he does not scare easy at all. it is very difficult for the scareactors to catch him off guard.

he was followed through one house for the longest time and didn't know it.
i told him about it and it happened again...........i wish i had a camera with me.

too bad no cameras in the houses.

it was so kewl they picked metro west/todd out of all the people in the house to follow.......

i love the houses!!
i love everything about hhn.

i am completely and totally addicted to hhn.

and i hate the background color of the universal forums now.
too bright and i can't use my blue color to write in.
it clashes.
