On one hand, I'm torn on giving my opinion and on the other, I want to give my opinion just to see if I'm in the minority or majority on this years HHN. So what the heck. Let's see what others thought. Here's my take.
Likes
1. HHN Event in general - I love the event, I look forward to the event, I can't wait to smell the event, see the event, and immerse myself into the event.
2. Havoc - House of the year and each and every scareactor deserve that. This house BLEW the others away as far as intensity. I already gave my house review in another thread so I will leave it at that. Hades did manage to get stronger as the event progressed so this house came in second to me.
3. Crowd - I really didn't have a problem getting the houses done this year as long as we were in the park to do the stay and scream.
4. Pumpkin Alley - For lack of better name, DW and I always love that area.
5. Legendary Truth facade - A+ goes for the builders and designers of this house.
6. Nail gun guy in Zombiegeddon - He gave us a great laugh when he shot at all the zombies and then himself and fell over.
7. The Historic Props - This covers the Horror Nights house and the HHN 20 Years of Fear scarezone. I loved seeing the past props and I wish we could have had the line que inside the Horror Nights beginning just so we could have looked at all of it.
8. The Price - Being a passholder, I had no problem spending the $75 for the FFPP. I loved them adding Fridays and we ended up going 8 x's this year. We live an hour and a half away BTW.
9. The Passholder Nights - This was a great way to get so much done in a short amount of time the first two weekends. We had a huge group with us with visitors from out of state and we were able to bring them as guests and let them enjoy everything. Thank you Universal for this.

1. The Website - For those that have followed the past 4 years websites, most will agree that it really lacked this year. I understand that the majority of people that go do not care about the website, but when you love "getting into it", the website always let you play along.
2. Legendary Truth - Yep, got best facade from me, but worst house as far as scares. I just think they focused way to much on the "state of the art" props and should have spent a little more time on the costumes and the scares. I just didn't think this house followed though on what they were trying to do. On a bright note though, THE CHAIR was awesome when you got to see it.
3. No Poop Room - How could you revisit Psychoscareapy and not have the poop room? This was something that would have been so simple and would have saved this house for me.
4. Choice of rooms for Horror Nights - Sorry, just thought they should have went farther back in their selection of the rooms. You had 20 years to pick from!!!
5. Representation of Fear - For him being the MAIN FORCE behind the past twenty year, he didn't have much presence at the event other than a guy on stilts that just walked around. Which takes me to. . .
6. Photozones instead of Scarezones - I will admit, I took some pictures the first weekend. Who didn't want to see all the past creatures and Icons in HHN 20 years and Fear Revealed? This however became a two edged sword for Universal. It basically turned two Scarezones into two group photo areas. Thinking about it now, why didn't they just have the Icons all have photo booths in another area in the park like Jack had. Let the scarezones be scarezones. Which takes me to . . .
7. The Scarezones - I'm going to try to be nice but it was really hard this year as a fan of HHN to get excited about the scarezones. They lacked one major thing for me. . . .SCARES. I just didn't get them at all. I mentioned the photo problem in HHN 20 and Fear, but Esqueleto and Zombie Gras had much the same problem. They were both just to "flashy" to be taken seriously. "Feet don't fail me now" just doesn't bring fear. The Coven, TO ME, was just a complete waste of time. Saws and Steam had some redeeming qualities, but I didn't like the Alley being used. It felt too small. I'm a fan of the whole street being used in front of The Mummy.
8. Bill and Ted - Just seemed totally not thought out and thrown together. There were so many things about the show that left me scratching my head instead of laughing. The Count however was the ONLY saving grace of that show to me. I laughed hard at the FU line.
I could go on some more but I will stop at that. Here is what I based my decision on. Every year, I get depressed because it is over. I went last night on the final night of the event, and I just wasn't that depressed that it was over. I love the event and will NEVER stop going, I just walked away from this one thinking, "Was THAT the best Universal could offer for the 20th?" For me, the answer was no!
