So here you can say what you liked, houses, scarezones and Bill &Ted's show.

Be honest,don't hold back.I won't.

For me the houses were better then last year and the scarezones was better by 5times.But B&T S***** bad. They had alot of material to work with like Tiger Woods etc.,but did'nt use it.Lindsey Lohen(sp)old, get over it.I did like Dr.Who cameo, pretty kool. But the rest was-too me-blah.I kept asking my DS16,who is that???:confused3

Put your opinion on this thread. But please NO BASHING!!

I think this year was better than last. I liked more houses this year than in the past couple of HHNs but the scarezones were still weak.

I don't do B & T any more...it's just not my type of humor.

I hope HHN will be extended into IOA as in the past...it's just more fun there. I'm not holding my breath though.
:rolleyes1

I agree. and IMO, the scare zones get weaker every year. (yawn)
I don't do B & T either. its stupid.
since DH is a magician we enjoyed seeing Brian B. but we already knew how all the illusions were done so it was kinda lame.

GLAD ROCKY HORROR WAS GONE! (for good I hope!!) :hippie:

IOA wont happen. I was in line with some employees who also were off duty scare actors, and they were saying that IOA was a logictical nightmare for HHN. Also now they have WAY to many licensing issues that would have to be dealt with (Potter, Marvel, Seuss) they is also just not enough space for their liking. They basically said IOA usage is a no go...though the talk of dementors was a highlight!

As for what I liked..I was a HUGE fan of Havoc, Catacombs, and LT. The zombie house was stupid. The scare zones overall were SERIOUSLY lacking, with the exception of Saws and Steam, we sat here for 45min watching. I also enjoyed watching the Crypt Keeper in the HHN scare zone.

Overall, I had more fun at HHN this year than I did at HOS this year. This years HHN was weaker though than HHN in the past. The crowds were light for us, so that helped, but the drunken idiots are getting to be a hard thing to handle.

Even though I'm getting tired of HHN at Universal with the houses always located in the same place year after year and that it would be cool to see HHN go back to IOA for a year I would agree that IOA is just too small for HHN.I remember the one time at HHN I truly felt like a sardine was a year the whole event was at IOA.The times they've used both parks for HHN like at HHN XIV have also been pretty worthless as they have 90% of the event at Universal and then they only used Lost continent to walk through and Marvel Super hero island for 1 house, what's the point of even doing that.So I have to agree the Universal park is much better suited for Horror Nights. As far as Bill and Ted,I watch it every year just to see what they stick in the show, the problem is I'm not watching many of the lame movies they mock so it becomes pointless. However if I go to Horror Nights and there's a B&T show I have to watch it even if it's not that funny,it's just kind of a tradition.

As for what I liked..I was a HUGE fan of Havoc...

Havoc won House of the Year! House of the Year is based on Guest feedback and Team Member performance. They were a great cast and definately deserved it!

I had only been to Sweet 16 and Carnival of Carnage before, but had always raved about how great they were to my wife. We had also done the Halloween at Knotts together and I had told her, and believed, that the best of Knotts was below the worst at Universal.

Finally got her to make to trek over for HHN and I have to say we were both dissapointed. For mine the houses lacked a bit in the theming. When i went those other years there were great rooms like the bed scene from Nightmare on Elm Street, the bathroom in Psycoscareapthy, some of the scenes from the Director house, the embalming at the Undertakers etc . A couple of the entrances ,like Legendary Truth, were very good but the only room for mine that had the punch and vision that really stayed with me was ALice in Wonderland in the 20 Years of Fear house.

Also I thought 3 of the houses were very similar themes, those being Legendary Truth, Ashes to Ashes and Psycoscarepathy which were all basically a ghost house story.

I really enjoyed the Zombie scare zone and the icons of past scarezone (Jill helped that a lot) but the other zones were a bit dull.

All in all we had a fun night, but nowhere near as much as I had the last 2 times. The wife said on the way out that she didn't see what I was raving about and she prefered the Knotts one, and I had to agree.

On one hand, I'm torn on giving my opinion and on the other, I want to give my opinion just to see if I'm in the minority or majority on this years HHN. So what the heck. Let's see what others thought. Here's my take.

Likes

1. HHN Event in general - I love the event, I look forward to the event, I can't wait to smell the event, see the event, and immerse myself into the event.

2. Havoc - House of the year and each and every scareactor deserve that. This house BLEW the others away as far as intensity. I already gave my house review in another thread so I will leave it at that. Hades did manage to get stronger as the event progressed so this house came in second to me.

3. Crowd - I really didn't have a problem getting the houses done this year as long as we were in the park to do the stay and scream.

4. Pumpkin Alley - For lack of better name, DW and I always love that area.

5. Legendary Truth facade - A+ goes for the builders and designers of this house.

6. Nail gun guy in Zombiegeddon - He gave us a great laugh when he shot at all the zombies and then himself and fell over.

7. The Historic Props - This covers the Horror Nights house and the HHN 20 Years of Fear scarezone. I loved seeing the past props and I wish we could have had the line que inside the Horror Nights beginning just so we could have looked at all of it.

8. The Price - Being a passholder, I had no problem spending the $75 for the FFPP. I loved them adding Fridays and we ended up going 8 x's this year. We live an hour and a half away BTW.

9. The Passholder Nights - This was a great way to get so much done in a short amount of time the first two weekends. We had a huge group with us with visitors from out of state and we were able to bring them as guests and let them enjoy everything. Thank you Universal for this.

Dislikes

1. The Website - For those that have followed the past 4 years websites, most will agree that it really lacked this year. I understand that the majority of people that go do not care about the website, but when you love "getting into it", the website always let you play along.

2. Legendary Truth - Yep, got best facade from me, but worst house as far as scares. I just think they focused way to much on the "state of the art" props and should have spent a little more time on the costumes and the scares. I just didn't think this house followed though on what they were trying to do. On a bright note though, THE CHAIR was awesome when you got to see it.

3. No Poop Room - How could you revisit Psychoscareapy and not have the poop room? This was something that would have been so simple and would have saved this house for me.

4. Choice of rooms for Horror Nights - Sorry, just thought they should have went farther back in their selection of the rooms. You had 20 years to pick from!!!

5. Representation of Fear - For him being the MAIN FORCE behind the past twenty year, he didn't have much presence at the event other than a guy on stilts that just walked around. Which takes me to. . .

6. Photozones instead of Scarezones - I will admit, I took some pictures the first weekend. Who didn't want to see all the past creatures and Icons in HHN 20 years and Fear Revealed? This however became a two edged sword for Universal. It basically turned two Scarezones into two group photo areas. Thinking about it now, why didn't they just have the Icons all have photo booths in another area in the park like Jack had. Let the scarezones be scarezones. Which takes me to . . .

7. The Scarezones - I'm going to try to be nice but it was really hard this year as a fan of HHN to get excited about the scarezones. They lacked one major thing for me. . . .SCARES. I just didn't get them at all. I mentioned the photo problem in HHN 20 and Fear, but Esqueleto and Zombie Gras had much the same problem. They were both just to "flashy" to be taken seriously. "Feet don't fail me now" just doesn't bring fear. The Coven, TO ME, was just a complete waste of time. Saws and Steam had some redeeming qualities, but I didn't like the Alley being used. It felt too small. I'm a fan of the whole street being used in front of The Mummy.

8. Bill and Ted - Just seemed totally not thought out and thrown together. There were so many things about the show that left me scratching my head instead of laughing. The Count however was the ONLY saving grace of that show to me. I laughed hard at the FU line.

I could go on some more but I will stop at that. Here is what I based my decision on. Every year, I get depressed because it is over. I went last night on the final night of the event, and I just wasn't that depressed that it was over. I love the event and will NEVER stop going, I just walked away from this one thinking, "Was THAT the best Universal could offer for the 20th?" For me, the answer was no!

Here are my quick thoughts:

-Catacombs, Havoc and Hades were my top three houses, although Cast B in Psycho, Cast A in Hallow'd, Cast A in Zombie and my pirate friend in Cast A Orfange were favorites too. Catacombs and Havoc stand out for me not just as best of 2010 but all-time favorites that join the likes of Freddy's house, Saw and Psychoscareapy Home for the Holidays and Leave it to Cleaver in my mind (three of my overall faves).

-I'm mixed on scarezones vs. photo zones. The scares are definitely much fewer when mobs of people are chasing the scareactors around for photos. I'm getting used to it, but a part of me prefers old-school scares. You still get a lot of that at Busch Gardens, where they use their darkness and wooded terrain to their advantage, but people try to do the photo op thing there too.

-People seemed less like jerks overall this year; not that we didn't run into drunks and rude line smokers, but not as much as in 2009.

-Old school houses still ruled over special effects. Legendary Truth was so hyped up but if you didn't have perfect timing for the effects you'd exit saying, "What was that supposed to be?" The final room was totally not set up for a proper finale. Did love the chair on Cast B though.

-Liked the Halloween Horror Nights game prizes. I don't remember seeing those, with the actual name of the event on them, in the past.

-I didn't hate Bill & Ted as much as most people seem to (saw it three times over the course of the season), but they definitely should have skewered Tiger Woods.
