Trying to decide between visiting US/IOA (primarily WWoHP) October 6 and 7 or Thanksgiving weekend. I know Thanksgiving Week is always busy, but am wondering how Halloween Horror Nights will impact the daytime crowd levels at US/IOA?

I think you're safe that early in the HHN season, IMHO.

But I disagree about the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving being all that busy. I think the week leading UP to Turkey Day is crowded. But we've been to Universal and Disney the week after Thanksgiving several times because we've found it to always have low crowd levels.

You will have longer hours and greater crowds week of thanksgiving. I would go in October hands down for lesser crowds and really nice weather usually.

HHN has minimal affect on daytime crowds at the Studios since it's a hard ticket event which requires separate admission. IOA is not affected at all. The Studios will start to get busy in the afternoons due to people arriving for HHN.

Thanks very much for the input. I've only been to US/IOA once before...thoroughly enjoyed it...but still have much to learn!

Hijacking your thread. I'm working up a fall trip around October 17-22. Kids are a little young for HHN, so will just be doing the parks during regular hours. Is this a bad idea as far as crowds go? This is a little later in the month than the question that began this thread so I don't know if the responses already given apply to my dates.

if you plan to stay onsite in october, do make your booking before late august.

hotels can sell out due to hhn for that weekend.

Not a bad idea at all. Crowds are not heavy during October so you shouldn't have huge wait times to deal with.
