HHN question

Going to Universal late October this year and just wanted to see if someone can clarify the whole HHN for me. Looks like there are posted "park hours" and then HHN hours. Is HHN similiar to Disney's MNSSHP where you have to pay extra for admission to the HHN?? Bear with me if this has been asked and answered before.

HHN is a separate ticketed event, like MNHSSHP. However, it is much scarier than Disney's Halloween event.
