HHN planning - a few ?'s

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I love the way everyone talks about the motherland and the dark side!

Everyone has been so helpful with tips. I only stalk the boards about 6 months out from a trip but I have shared this information and helped other at work plan I should retire from nursing 36 years and become a travel agent. If I win the lotto I plan to retire and at WDW:love:

Well thanks...Mac and I love talking about HHN so you will always get lots of tips from us. ;)

BTW...I'll delete your duplicate post.

So say you were going to HHN on a Thursday (maybe Oct 11) and were only going to be there for one day, and did the S&S, would you veterans recommend an EP to get through all the houses at least once?

it might be possible to do the houses w/o it.
depends on your pace in the park and what you plan to see that night.

variables would be the crowds there that night, if you don't plan to do any rides, or repeats on houses, take time out to sit down and eat, possible skip one of the shows.

the park will close at midnight on thursday.

do the s & s, knock off 3 houses and only have waits for the late part of the night before closing.

if the first week reviews come back as fantastic houses, it might or might not bring in more crowds on the weekdays.
past thursdays have been very good with not much crowds the past couple of years.

go ahead and try w/o the epp.
you still have the option of the epp.
if the lines do become too long, you can always buy the epp that night while in the park.
you could then do repeats on houses you have already been though if you buy the ep later in the evening.

i buy the ep for thursdays as i do like to take my time and wander thru the scare zones, look for rat lady, do shows, do repeats on houses, etc.

but, there usually is a great deal for the first 2 weeks of hhn ticket wise.

if your schedule allows it, try to book the day house tour.
they are held on certain days of the week.
usually th-f-sa-su at two different time periods.
11:00 and 2:00.

you will have a guide in the assigned group to talk about past hhn's and the present one.
then tour thru 3 houses that have the lights on.
it is great for picture taking.

you can see all the details that go into the making of the house.
you will also be told of the history behind the set up in that house.

die hard hhn fans love those day house tours.....

when you go thru the houses at night, you don't see all the details at all.
you do miss out on some things.

and, it's usually a conga line thru the houses at night.

i always recommend hhn virgins to take in the house tour during the day.

That's tough because sometimes you need the EP and sometimes you don't. Unfortunately you never know until you're there. If you wanted to play it safe, get an EP that way you should be able to see most houses twice.

i'll pencil you in for Sunday.
i'll send you my info and cell sometime in september.
i leave on 9/24 for the motherland and switch to the darkside on 10/2.

i will be doing S&S and buying the ep.
but, i'm sure we can work out a system to do houses and zones until the lines are over 20 minutes.

As if I'm not jazzed enough already, now my first meeting onsite with a fellow Darkside fanatic - geez, October, are we there yet??

I am in a group of eight that will be there, so I hope you enjoy company. We run the gamut from young teen/young adult/adults, and this is most of the group's first HHN, so you'll get to enjoy those first reactions...those can be so funny, not knowing what to expect.

We'll figure something out in September - if that ever gets here. . .

Should be lots of fun and once we have the date down pat, I might put in for the next day off so I can stay longer.

We'll see. ;)

i vote for an appearance on Thursday, October 4th:wizard:

once again we have to leave on Saturday & will miss the big gathering on Sunday:headache:. beggars can't be choosy & we were happy to be able to get any week's vacation during that time period (hunting season in western pa).

anyway, i will volunteer to the poster that inquired re the EP being necessary that the Thursday that fell during the 1st week of October last year was very doable w/o the EP. Mac & Andy patiently;)waited with us in the non-express line, believe we managed to cross most, if not all, of the houses off the list.

Is the EP for HHN a one time per house kind of thing? Or can you use it multiple times per house?

I love that we are talking about HHN already. Trying to figure out which dates for our trip. My brother has decided to get married in October so late September it will be tor us.

tell brother to switch his dates.

opening weekends only have hhn for fri and sat nights.

Believe I tried. They are getting married Oct. 6. I think we are gonna go the weekend before. We usually go the same weekend as spooky empire, but they moved the dates back later in October.

Didn't go so well with the wife... She was quite upset... all the way up till Christmas.. :sad2:

She's happy now... She even wants to hear about this year's trip (she won't come along this year either).

What's up dude! Hope you are doing well. Gotta catch up with all the new info from the boards... Will you be there during opening weekend this year? The following week?

Opening weekend this year should probably be on the 21st and 22nd. I can make it those two nights or plan for the next week, in which the studios will probably hold HHN for the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th September, agree?

More days, same ticket type.. Sounds like a better option, huh?

Mac: However, I am still trying to move my trip a week later to be there for 4th, 5th, and 6th October....

I will include BG this year... maybe one night at HoS! :scared1:

Cheers!
