A few observations about this years HHN. First, we were only there one time before, four years ago, so this is the basis for our comparison.
This year, there were more houses, but less overall atmosphere. When the event was at IOA (four years ago), the paths were all fogged over with Scaractors of different kinds all over, not just in the houses. It was actually disorienting, with the fog and colored lights and lasers, and really made just walking the paths an event. This year, other than the one little alleyway with the cage and a couple of characters, one bride of frankenstein, and the chainsaw men, there was nothing. Very few and far between. No fog, no atmosphere, just the houses. I realize that IOA has less sound stages and can not hold as many houses, but the five houses they had before were far superior to me than this years event and it seems like there was far more effort put into making the paths into an event in themselves in the past.
As far as the houses, I thought that this years clown house was great. Freddy's house was good, the Mary Shaw house was okay, as well as the Vampire house. I thought the Friday the 13th house was lame. It seemed like the same masks were at every turn and there was a lot less use of makeup and variety of victims/monsters.
As far as Bill and Ted, highly funny and entertaining as usual, pushing the envelope a bit further each year.
Overall, we had fun and will go again, but it was just not up to par with that of four years ago. Also, I think when it was at IOA it was cool to ride the outdoor rides at night while the event was going on. Just my thoughts for anyone interested and no offense intended to anyone who disagrees.
