HHN I need help!

Just bought tickets for the HHN at the end of October because it is something my husband has been wanting to do. Me not so much, but the supportive wife I agreeed. i don't know anything about this event except it is scary. What can I expect? Do the parks operate as usual with this scare experience added? (ARe the rides still operating?) Just trying to prepare. Thanks for any info you can give!
