HHN: I Have No Idea What I'm Doing

Haven't been to Universal Studios in at least 10 years. It's just DH and me going to WDW next Saturday for a week. We just decided last minute that we want to do a trip to Universal and HHN sounds awesome.
So I have some questions:
We can do a one day ticket at Universal and add the HHN ticket for that night too, correct?
If we have tickets to the park for the day, do we have to leave and re-enter for the HHN?
Anything going on other than the houses and shows at night?
Which other attractions are open during HHN?

Yes...you can add on to your day ticket which is called the Stay & Scream upgrade. That will allow you to stay in the park after closing and wait in the holding area for the group to be released into the park. This will save you lots of time since two houses are opened early for the S & S people and you will be able to get in line for other houses before the outside gates are opened. Some attractions will be open during HHN but I would concentrate on the houses and shows...not the attractions.
