DW and I are considering the HHN on 10/5.

The problem - we have 3 average children ages 4, 6, 8.

Are the usual attractions opened during the event? If it is too intense for the children, can we escape into the other shows, rides, areas of the park?

Will I be able to take the children on rides, shows, while my DW does a haunted house or maze (and vice versa)?

Or, will we simply be wasting our money paying for this event because our children will be too spooked and make the evening unenjoyable?

Are the parade and other HHN shows suitable for the kids, if we keep them out of the haunted houses and mazes?

ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!!

Some of the rides will be open, but the park is usually covered with Scare-actors. You might be able to avoid them by walking on the sidewalk, but they will try to scare you one way or the other.

The rides that are open are usually T2, BTTF, MiB, Jaws, the GGG Horror Makeup Show, and Earthquake.

Remember, HHN has a rating of PG-13 for a very good reason.

I've seen kids crying in the middle of the street during this while "Chain Saw Guys" tried to calm them down and tell them it was all make believe.

The entire park is dark, Scaractors are everywhere, lots of fog and strobe lights. As Barry said, it's rated PG-13 for a good reason.

See USF during the day. If you want a fun family Halloween event, try the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the MK. It would be much better for young kids, IMO. They'd even get to wear costumes and trick-or-treat in the park.

You can also try Shamu's Spooktacular at Sea World. I think it's held a few days before Halloween.
