I would have to say if the prices listed earlier are accurate that US just priced me out of HHN. I have gone to HHN the last 4 years from Washington State and gotten the express passes but at the proposed prices there is no way I can do it. We bought the express passes last year and still had to deal with incredible lines. On the other hand we did HOS and it was a blast. There is no way I would spend $70 on an express pass.

i'm guessing that UO is trying to find out from the public, what would they consider paying for a full night at hhn.

you know UO will make the final decision on costs and dates, but perhaps they will take into account what the public opinion is.

last years hhn was not as large as 2005 hhn.
maybe UO is reevaluating costs in order to bring more people in?


no matter what the costs, i will be there for 3 nights of hhn and buy the ep.
i'm totally and completely addicted to hhn.

I got the survey as well and that was my exact response back to them. I've been going almost every year since 1994 (maybe 93?) with the past several years w/Express on Saturday nights and no complaints re: express, we never had long waits. We can't go during the week b/c of work.

I LOVE HHN but it gets to a point where price really does matter as we always stay onsite as well (and we only live an hour away) We did the daytime Unmasked RIP tour and that was so worth it - DH and I said if the prices are anything like the survey, we'll do the day tour and that may be it.

I know....Times they are a changin' - I just don't always like it

Heh? Last year's HHN broke attendance records. 2005 was rather empty.

i only go in the beginning of the season.
it wasn't huge except one night.
the friday i was there, the place starting emptying out before midnight.

for the guests that go later in the season, i know they are crowded.
main reason i shy away at that time of october.

they should have the RIP tour this hhn. it's been pretty regular since i have been attending hhn.


the last 2 years they did the daytime "unmask the horror" tour.
i did it and was glad i took it in.

Yeah they've had the RIP option every year since we've been attending as well though last year was the first time we tried it...sadly that's no guarantee they'll keep it this year but we are assuming they will since it is profitable for them

We did the daytime tour as well and are also hoping they bring that back too. Are you sure about it being the last 2 years? We don't recall it being an option in '05 and when we took it last year our guide made a big deal about it being the first time they've offered it though they've wanted to do it for several years now.

when i wrote last 2 years, i was referring to 06 and 05.

in 05, the first year they did it, the cost was only $10 a person.
it was held in the daytime. they started advertising it late. think i heard about it in mid to late september for it to begin during hhn. not many were aware of it. i found out about it on the csw boards.

last year it was advertised from the beginning and the price went up.
i tried to book the second saturday for it but it was full. (sunday also not bookable)
all tours on that saturday was held for a benefit organizetion and all tour guides were handling that date.
for the monday, columbus day, i took the 11 am tour instead of the 2 pm tour.

i bought a digital camera and hope to do it again this fall.
the museum section of the tour was the best. you were allowed to take all the pics you wanted to.
we had 3 houses on our tour last year. pics were allowed for 2 of the houses. it was fantastic to see the details in the houses. things you wouldn't notice during hhn at night you were able to take the time to look at during the tour.

Cool...we did the RIP tour the Sunday of the long weekend then the daytime tour the following Thursday. We also got to do 3 houses on the tour but were only allowed to take pics of the outer facades. I agree it was great to see all the details you can't see at night. We thought the museum at the end was in itself worth the price of the tour.

the guides allowed pics to be taken in 2 of the houses on our tour.
we had a small group.

i read on line that the tours after ours, we not allowed to do the pics we were able to do.

that museum is worth doing another tour this year.
like you said, it was the best!
