Hhn 19 website has been updated!!

So this will be our frist time, what are the houses like? Is It like your normal haunted house you walk through from room to room with diffrent set ups,or Is it more like a show? In side where the actors interact with the crowd?
Yes...It's a conga line that constantly moves and there is no touching between scareactors and the public. They like to have with you but w/o touching.

The Wolf Man is in Sound Stage 22 (Creatures, Dead Silence, PsychoScareapy: Maximum Madness).
Excellent! :thumbsup2

I'm new to the HHN and have a few questions....
1) are all the rides open?
2) is it scary walking around the park or is it just scary inside the haunted houses?
3) how scary is it?... don't want dd to have nightmares (or me hehehee)
Thanks!

Not all rides will be open...some have been closed off due to the queue being used for HHN. This do not affect the rides during the day. Walking around can be scary too with the scarezones, chainsaw drill teams, zombies and others walking around trying to scare people. How scary it is depends on the person really so it's hard to relate how scary HHN is.

I'll give you an idea of the kinds of things that can happen in a scare zone. Scareactors will sneak up behind you, yell into your ear, chase you...that sort of thing. The zombies by Men in Black were always after me last year. One chased me around til I finally ran into the store to escape. One of those mirror men things at the front last year scuttled after me on all fours on his back and was running as fast as me like that!

They definitely interact with you, both in and outside of the houses, and if you're easily startled you'll probably be jumping and screaming all night.

how old is your dd?
if she is a teenager, she should do fine.

I am so excited, but here Is the thing? me and my DS just do not scare:confused3 maybe Its a guy thing?? we like horror movies and zombies but its like we love the special effects and the anticipation and all but its not like we run or jump at scarey stuff. Are we going to stick out like a sore thumb?.Also can you cover everything In one night?

i'm that way also, and there are others at HHN like us too.

i enjoy the ambiance and creativity of the event.
i don't get startled at all.

if you start in the stay and scream area, have the express pass, you can cover the event in the time period. the later in the season, crowds tend to grow more.

if you go on a saturday night, more crowds, longer lines.

if you concentrate on the houses and scare zones, you will meet your goal.

i do the rides in the daytime, not at the hhn event and able to do the houses and zones. i do buy the epp though. if you don't buy the epp, start early, do the houses before the general admission is let in and you can try to stay ahead of the crowds.

do take in bill and ted's adventure.
it's kewl.

There are areas that do not have any scarezones, however, the whole park has the atmosphere of HHN. The scareactors tend to go after the easy targets (those that scare easily) and as inkkognito said, they will follow you - the more you scream, the more they'll be attracted to you.

As for your daughter, it all depends on how old your daughter is ... they say the event isn't suitable for anyone under 13 for a reason. The event is very intense and is definitely not MNSSHP. Only you know your daughter and would be able to determine if she would be able to handle it.

No you won't stick out, there are tons of people like you. As for covering it all in one night - it really depends on which night you go. Peak nights (Fri/Sat) are the busiest by far and non-peak nights (Wed/Thur/Sun) aren't far behind. It's not uncommon to have wait times around 60-90 minutes by 9:00 pm (I've even seen some more popular houses with 120 min wait).

If you only have one night to see it all I would definitely suggest buying an express pass and utilizing the stay and scream option to get a head start on the entrance crowd. You can get in two or three houses before they open the gates without using your express pass, then as the crowds grow you can use your express pass to bypass the lines for the houses with the longer wait time.

Thanks all!:cool1: how long does It take to get through the houses?,and what exzactly are scare zones?.

If you mean the houses themselves, I would say like 5 minutes.. I never really kept tracked. If you mean the houses with the lines, depends.. on peak nights some lines can grow to a couple hours.

Scarezones are themed areas of the park, with people there to scare you. They each have their own theme, check the website for this years themed scarezones.

it used to be that peak nights were crowded, non peak nights not crowded.

the last 2 years, i have found sunday nights to be as crowded as friday nights for the crowds and line waits.

i'm referring to the sunday night before columbus day.

i'm hoping that the thursdays don't become the now sundays for crowds and line waits....

maybe the sunday night hhn is only crowded in the middle of the month...?

It's not just the Sunday you're here...all Sundays have become crowded...all the way through the month.

you know, that used to be the best kept secret.
go on sunday, no need for epp to buy.

low crowds
short lines....

i started to buy the epp the last two years for those sundays...

yup, bought one for this year.
man, is it getting expensive ..

but, since i drop a lot to do this trip, i would hate to spend the hours standing in line for the houses.
i buy the epp then whine about it.............

This year will be my first year doing HHN on a Thursday. How did Thursday crowds compare to Sunday crowds last year?
Thursdays have gotten busier the past couple of years. I don't know if there is a slow night any longer. Thursdays are not as busy as the weekends but you're still going to find lines of 2 hours especially later in the evening. That's why it's so important to do S & S if you can and purchase the EP...even though it's expensive.

Thanks. We purchased EPs. Fortunately, our HHN tickets were purchased with the AP discount which helped to offset the cost of the EPs. We'll also be using the S & S to get a head start on the gate crowd.

the last two years of thursday i attended had it's crowds mid way thru then kind of slacked off.

having the ep for thursday made it a great night.

little waits in line, less crowds thru the scare zones and less crowds for the last bill and ted's show.

i bought the ep for the thursday the 8th, also patster.

the crowds grow each year for hhn.
i tend to think that thursdays will start to pick up more crowds

Does anyone know when Hell Week is this year? In all the years we have been coming down for HHN we have only once been there for hell week (2007) and have no desire to do it again.
