I am about to become a new owner at HHI if I pass ROFR (wish me luck!) and wondered what are the best times to visit Hilton Head.

I'm going to answer your question from a weather perspective rather than one based on occupancy at the resort. The weather tends to be the most comfortable from mid-October through late November and from late March through mid-May. The Island is typically not very busy during those times either with the exception of the week of the Heritage golf tournament and around Thanksgiving.

We were there twice in early April and it was gorgeous.
This year we are going last week in March, and I'm hoping for warm enough weather to hang out on the beach!

Enjoy it, it's a wonderful place to relax and vacation.

Our first home resort was HHI so we have been going at least one time a year since 1998. We have been there in mid-March (3 days of solid rain followed by 3 days of lovely 80 degree sun!), we have been there many times the week before Memorial Day in May (love this time of the year!!!) and one time after the Member Cruise in mid September (temperature wise very similar to late May but not nearly as crowded) and one time mid June (WOW, talk about HOT and HUMID!!!)...bottom line, we love our HHI anytime of the year!!!

I have my fingers crossed that your sale goes through...:wizard:

I am not a DVC member.. but I can answer this question based on weather also. My parents have lived on Hilton Head Island for almost 20 years. They come north in the hotter summer months.

It depends upon what you are planning to do while you are there. If you are looking to do activities while wearing a sweater (biking, walking the beach, golf), I have found February to be beautiful there (I'm basing that on the fact that I live in New York State!). When the kids were younger, I would go down for almost the month to escape the snow. If you are looking for beach weather, well... you'd have a wait until April to be sure it would be warm enough. Maybe March if you are lucky. This year.... I don't think my parents have gotten the shorts out yet... but then again, it's been strange weather everywhere this year! :-)

Hilton Head is a beautiful island!! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the insight! I'm really liking the looks of the weather in May (memorial weekend?) and October, plus maybe Thanksgiving. I'm from the Cleveland area, so the colder months I might try to squeeze in a trip to WDW!

I've gone in March, April and October. For a fellow Buckeye it's perfect weather. When I went in March, it was in the high 60's, great, but the locals were bundled up like us when it's below 20. :rotfl:

I've not gone in summer, but supposedly the Marriott resorts are full of cars with Ohio plates on them.

I've told hubby we should try HHI for spring break, but he wants to go to Vero Beach or somewhere in FL.

Hey, let me join you in the wait for ROFR @ HHI. You mentioned Thanksgiving. That's my absolute favorite week to visit. We've gone there for the last 4 Thanksgivings, and already have reservations for this year. On Thanksgiving morning, the CMs set up cooking outside the general store area, and the smells throughout the resort are so yummy. What they're cooking is Thanksgiving dinners that people staying there have pre-ordered. If you have reservations over Thanksgiving week, they send you a menu and order form about 6 weeks beforehand.

Just booked our first Thanksgiving stay @ HHI! What's on their menu??

We like going to HHI thanksgiving weekend too. The resort's not crowded and the Christmas decorations are being put up while we are there. It is a quick trip over to Savannah and it is not too cold for the activities at HHI.

I'm pretty sure you have a choice between the deep fried turkey and oven roasted turkey. Beyond that, I'm not sure-hopefully someone who's gotten the resort's can respond. Several other places (including Piggly-Wiggly) offer precooked Thanksgiving meals also-we always get ours from Signe's.

We love June! We love being there when the resort and island are in full swing. Although HHI is the kind of resort when even sold out does not feel crowded.
