What kind of activities does HHI offer? We have 3 kids, who will be 10, 8, and 5.5 when we'd be going-all of whom love crazy rides. We were thinking of doing HHI and then hitting Busch Gardens on the way home since we're coming from New England. Or vice versa-doing Busch Gardens first and then relaxing at HHI. Anyone else ever do similar?
Any other ideas or thoughts?
This would be for next summer.
Thanks!

We've never done HH in conjunction with anything else. We just do HHI and love it. It is a very relaxing vacation. We rent bikes and bike around the island. The island has bike paths throughout, making it easy to get around. When my kids were younger, they did many of the activities offered at the resort. We've done the treasure hunt, informational activities about sharks and other creatures, goofy bingo, campfire and marsh walk. DH & DD (who was 14 at the time) did the kayak trip. DS crabs and fishes off the pier. And then of course we enjoy the pool and the beach. We generally go in October during our fall break. Last year we went to WDW and had a great time, but I think all five of us missed our relaxing trips to HH.

What we loved about HH, where do I start. 1. Relaxing! 2. Horseshoes 3. Pinot Gelato (just down the street). 4. Beach 5. Kids loved the ping pong tables (actually bought one the day after we got home) 6. Beaufort 7. Savannah (Mrs. Wilke's Boarding House for lunch!) 8. Parasailing 9. Jet skis 10 Guys would say GOLF! DUH 11. Everything! Did I mention Relaxing!!!! Love Love the property!

:love:The beach is wonderful and not crowded feeling. My DH and DS (13) loved the horse shoes, ping pong table, pool table, and shuffle board. We all loved the campfire and smores. Disney does a great job with entertainment for the kids. There are crafts, nature walks, crabbing, water gun fights, games and lots of activities to sign up for. You can also book a dolphin or fishing excursion. There is kyaking and fishing fron the pier. Shopping and putt putt are close by. Bike riding trials are everywhere. So many fun things to do. We usually vacation at the beaches inthe Florida panhandle but HH is our new fav beach.

Is parasailing offered at the resort? Do you know how much? Not sure if I want to do it at HH or WDW.

I really wanted to do it in Mexico, but dh chickened out.

Sorry, parasailing in not offered at the resort.

I LOVE HHI. So do my kids...12, 7 and 5.

This July we stayed at HHI for a week then booked 2 nights in Willamsburg via Priceline. We did Water Country USA. We plan to do the same thing next year!

Some activities, pool party (love seeing the dad's do the YMCA), fireworks on Tuesday nights, campfire, art and craft activities...the bay and the beach, hammocks...karaoke. So many things..

HHI gives you an incredible sense of relaxation. The porches are amazing with the rocking chairs.

The entire experience is amazing!

I was trying to decide about that same thing..a beach trip back to Ft. Walton like we did 3 years ago or HHI. HHI would be closer and I continue to read such great things about HHI. I am getting really excited with the prospect.

wow. you guys are definetly making me want to convince the family to try it out!
We drive to Disney every year, but we skipped going this year partly because we're kind of sick of the drive. (flying isn't an option for us). Anyway, it would be so nice to use our points somewhere that's disney but is at least a little closer to home...

Keep it coming...let's hear more. popcorn::

How did you find doing HHI and then Willamsburg? Did you do historic sites there or Busch gardens or both?

Obviously as DVC owners we love WDW, but after our first trip to HHI this past spring, my wife said it was hands down her favorite resort and the place she would want to add-on when we decide to do so.

More than anything it is extremely relaxing and low key. There are many activities for the kids and quite a few are free, just be sure to sign up to ensure a spot.

Also consider nearby Savannah. Just be forewarned, if you decide to go to Paula Dean's restaurant for lunch plan on getting in line by 7am because they don't take reservations and the line wraps around the block.

It is not offered at the resort, but it is offered on the island. We took a fishing excursion and saw people parasailing. I'm not sure exactly where you go to do it, but I bet you could google it to find locations.
(BTW, you're braver than I am!!! :scared1:)

Things I love about HHI. Walking into the villa and seeing Shadow's footprint in the tile. Seeing the little bench below the fishing gear and seeing "Walt" and MM + MM carved into the bench. The hard decisions we need to make - should we go to the pool? The pool at the beach? Or the beach? LOL Watching the birds in the marsh from our deck. Being lucky enough to catch the dolphins coming in to feed, and watching it from our deck. My DS 12 would tell you crab fishing off the pier, or kids night out, smores and the campfire, the dance parties at the pool, playing horseshoes, laying in a hammock, ghost stories with B'Lou, last but not least Shadow.
