We are heading to HHI for the first time after Thanksgiving. I haven't seen any discussions lately on room views, and can't find the old ones.

As I recall, Marsh views are quite popular. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!

John

I prefer marsh views, mainly because you have a little more privacy. There are no sidewalks in front of the balconies of the marsh view rooms. That said, I'm ok with an island view too as long as there are lots of trees around the balcony to give it a more private feel. What type unit are you staying in? Studio? 1 BR? 2 BR? GV?

We are in a dedicated 2BR although a lock-off would be ok. We are traveling with friends...No Kids!

Unless you require a HCA 2BR, you will have a dedicated. 16 of the 21 lock-off 2BRs are located in the main lodge and many of those have a marsh view. The other 5 are located under one of the 5 GVs at the resort.

Usually, the lock-offs are reserved only as Studios and 1BRs unless one is needed as a HCA villa.

Here is a link to info about the HH resort layout.

Thanks Doc! The detailed information is quite helpful.

The link to the resort layout no longer works. Does anyone know of other links? TIA.

See you there! We go to HHI for Thanksgiving, and usually stay the week after too. What size villa do you have? Yes, in our opinion marsh view, upper floor,is the best view.

How long is the walk from the Lodge to the feature pool? Based on the linked info above, most of the 1-bedrooms will be at the Lodge and that's most likely where we will end up.

Maybe 5 minutes - if that. Everything at the resort is very close.

Simba's Mom, I've noticed from the disabilities forum that you use an ECV. We're considering a trip to HHI the 1st week of November. I use a power chair. Is the resort pretty accessible & do you find plenty that you're able to do there? We've been to WDW so many times that I'd like to try something new but I keep thinking we're better off to just take a no park trip to Florida & be able to explore all the resorts instead of being confined to one resort at HHI. Also the flight to Orlando is cheaper. We had a road trip planned to HHI October 2016 but had to cancel due to the Hurricane. I'm needing a little convincing to give it another try. How is the weather in early November & tell me reasons you'd choose HHI over WDW. I'd appreciate any info you can give to help me make a decision.

This last Thanksgiving I spent in a wheelchair, thanks to fracturing my pelvis the week before our trip. That's when I learned that accessibility is great! Over at the Beach House is a beach wheelchair (big balloon tires) that I loved. The main reason I prefer HHI to WDW is the lack of planning needed (to me, there's too much planning needed at WDW). It's so restful-you can plan what to do day-to-day. And in November, most restaurants are actually fairly quiet, not bustling and noisy (exception for us was Skull Creek). That reminds me-some restaurant rest rooms aren't HA friendly (umm, Skull Creek, for one!) Weather-very variable. We've been in November when it was in the 80s, other years when we had ice, temps in the 30s. Those are the days for a cup of warm apple cider in front of the fireplace in Big Murgie's Den.

Thank you so much! I think we'll definitely plan a trip there & hope for good weather. I noticed on a weather chart that this past fall, October temps weren't much different than early November. There was also less rain in November...I'm hoping that there's also less chance of hurricanes. Now just have to wait till 7 months out to see if it's still available.
