Can we make a list of HH restaurants/eateries that are good and inexpensive (and kid friendly)?

You might want to read thru the HH Adoration thread already on this page. There is a lot of great information about area dining there already.

HH has a ton of nice restaurants. The HH resort will provide a list of suggestions - some even with DVC discounts. Within walking distance of the resort are Kingfisher, Scott's Fishmarket, Bistro, Parrot Cove, San Miguels, and Ocean Grille. Depending on your personal tastes there are many, many others a short drive away and the thread linked above discusses more.

Enjoy! :)

As noted, Hilton Head has a ton of great restaurants. They publish a book quarterly that has many menus, early birds, etc that one can pick up and use as a guide to match your tastes.

We just returned from HH and while there, we discovered a restaurant called Redfish. There was a DVC discount and it was listed in a Top Ten survey. A local rated it A+ as well. We happened upon their Early Bird special: a meal (soup or salad, bread, entree, glass of wine) for $14.95. On the regular menu, the entrees were $25-35.

There were four of us and each ordered something different. All four meals were delicious - and the portions were huge! A bowl of soup was a meal in itself. We will definitely go there again.

There was outdoor seating available & plenty of children. No one was really dressed up even though the restaurant could be considered Fine Dining.

I need to add, however, that the DVC discount was not honored for anything on the Early Bird menu.

Red Fish is a fabulous restaurant with an equally wonderful wine list.

Almost all restaurants on the Island are very kid-friendly.

As Doc mentioned, in Shelter Cove right across the marina from the resort is San Miguel's (Mexican obviously) which is moderately priced (for a resort community) with consistently good food (and margaritas!). In Palmetto Dunes, where the Beach House is located, is Alexander's which has a little bit of everything and nice atmosphere. Crazy Crab on the north end of the Island is a seafood restaurant that has some other things. The food is good, but the attraction here is the view. The Old Oyster Factory also has a nice variety and a lovely view. The CMs at the resort will give you directions. If you'd like to go back into Sea Pines Plantation at the south end of the Island (it costs $5 but you can come and go all day and there are several things to see back there), there is the Salty Dog at South Beach (mostly for lunch), Truffles at Sea Pines Center, and several restaurants at Harbour Town. Woody's at Palmetto Bay Marina is also good for lunch. We also enjoy Marley's near the entrance to Sea Pines. Have a wonderful trip!

The restaurant publication they give you at check-in is great. It'll list menu, prices, specials and some will indicate if there is a child's menu. There are several restaurants that offer a discount to DVC also. I believe they give you a list of those at check-in too!

hey guys. My family and I are in HH right now. We ate at Dye's Gullah Fixins. We had heard it was wonderful and was not disappointed. Very good. Everything made from scratch from local ingredients. I had the low country boil and my wife had the crab cakes. I highly recommend this place. BIG portions.

I've never heard of this restaurant, and it sounds good. Where's it located?:confused3

We also have eaten at Dye's and was the best meal we had on the island, and the staff was great. Redfish is another I would definitley recommend, especially if you can get there for the early bird. That being said, i would steer clear of Scott's Fishmarket. It was probably the worst dinner we had on vacation. My 3 kids 15,11, and 8 wouldn't eat their food and they got your basic chicken fingers. I had a seafood fra diablo that tasted like they put ketchup on it instead of sauce. It's not cheap either.:scared1:

We have stayed at HHI several times and one of our regular stops that is not yet listed is The Oyster Factory. To be honest we enjoy it as much for the the atmosphere as the food. If you plan ahead, I would recommend going on Fireworks night (Tuesday I think) as you will have a great view and no issues with Shelter Cove parking after they are over.
