HHI Questions

We have a week planned there at the end of April and I have a few questions if anyone has been recently.

1. Are they limiting capacity at either of the pools? Do we need to be concerned with getting up early to make sure we get a spot?

2. We have a five year old and walking to Shelter Cove Harbour seems very doable, but what about the restaurants over by Kroger? Are there sidewalks? Is it safe to walk or better to drive?

3. If we get lazy and want to Door Dash or Uber Eats one night for dinner, has anyone had success getting food delivered?

4. Anywhere to purchase beach toys for the kiddo nearby so we don't have to pack them? Does Kroger have them?

1. I believe there is the possibility they can cut down on pool numbers, but haven’t heard any reports of that needing to happen yet. We have been able to find plenty of chairs on both trips this year without a problem. Hot tub gets most “crowded” but no CM was even setting limits on that.
2. There are some sidewalks but it’s a good walk for a 5 year old. We’ve rented bikes to ride around island but usually drive to eat anywhere in that shopping plaza.
3. Had door dash delivered straight to our room for take out and Instacart also not a prob.
4. Kroger probably will, but there’s also a Walmart and Target on 278 on the way to the resort.

1. They do limit capacity at the pool at the beach house but I have not seen them do it at the main pool. The real problem at the beach house is they run out of chairs.
2. We walk to shelter cove and it is no problem but may be much for a 5 year old- depends on the kid. We walked to Grimaldi s, hickory burger place next door and French place behind Kroger. There are sidewalks pretty much the entire way.

4. Kroger has lots of beach toys— all kinds. The Walmart also has a huge section but they are farther away down the street. Disney has a few in the giftshop.

4. I saw some beach toys in the Disney shop this weekend.
Enjoy the resort! It was awesome and relaxing!

Just returned from HHI and saw signs at the main pool as well as at the beach house stating that the pool deck capacity was full and to see a cast member. Don't know what the cast member was doing at that point as I was either leaving or walking past at the time.

Signs were out in the afternoon- 1:30-2ish at beach house and 3:30ish at the main pool when I saw them. But different days at the main pool there were plenty of open spots at that time in the afternoon.

1. Yes, they have been but it's difficult to say whether you need to get up early.
2. Walkable, yes, but I'd want a stroller for a younger child, somewhat so I wouldn't have to chase them to catch them.....

4. CVS also has beach toys and what I like about getting at CVS is usually easy in and easy out, plus I can get forgotten items there. There is one at Mathews drive on the way in and at Pope Ave on the right after you go around sea pines circle.

Just returned from HHI yesterday. Main pool closed for capacity several times and almost always around 6:30 for whatever trivia/game they were doing (so sign up early!). The was one day I got up early to get chairs I noticed they were full and turning families away by 9:45. We never saw the Beach House itself at capacity, but the one day that the weather was really nice, the parking lot closed.
It's totally safe to walk but maybe a hike for a 5 year old. If you have a stroller, I would do it. There's a nice path that actually goes behind all the shops with a park and beautiful marsh views.
The Kroger has almost everything you could ever need for the beach. We bought boogie boards but they had toys, floats, chairs, umbrellas, etc.
