Can someone please tell me about the pools at HHI? Planning our first trip. Do they give you a wrist band when you enter? Is there a beach? Do they check room IDs on the beach? How does it work? Are there chairs or do you bring your own?
Thank you for your help!

I can only answer your question about pools, and we go off-season, so in-season may be different. The gate for entering the pool also gives you access to Tide Me Over so they have no reason to give wrist bands when you enter, and the gate isn't locked. When we go through the gate, we're always heading up to Tide Me Over but I've never seen anyone handing out wrist bands.

There are two areas to HHI. The resort where you stay has a pool and hot tub. They don't check Id's at the pool. No locks, etc...

The other area is the Beach House. This is located about 1 mile from the resort and is on the ocean. You do need your KTTW card to open the doors/gates to get in there. They also have a pool there (you had to use your key to get into it though). The beach is a short walk from the beach house. Anybody can park at the beach house and access the sandy beach. People without keys can't get into the beach house to use the pool or facilities. They run a shuttle from the resort to the beach house pretty regularly.

I'd recommend you consider renting bicycles if you're able. HH is a great biking area. Very flat. No real hills. Paved bike trails all over the island. Very bike friendly. We would ride our bikes over to the beach house instead of the shuttle. You can even ride your bikes on the actual beach (sand gets packed pretty hard).

Parking at the Beach House is limited but there is a free shuttle. It's not like SAB where they give out wrist bands.

It's such a special place, enjoy!

You do need wrist band ( room key) access to get to the beach house pool. As far as the snack bar goes, they have a window to serve the general public.

Did HHI last year and the kids loved the pool. We used the bikes to get to the beach house, it was very easy to get to. To get to the pool areas you do need your room key to get through the gaits. The beach house was fabulous as it had access to the beach. There were plenty of chairs at the pool at the resort, and you can rent the ones for the beach area.
We fell in love with HHI and we are seriously thinking of moving there very soon. Enjoy your time.

The pool at the resort has a slide that is great for younger children. There is a Krogers less than a mile away from the resort. When we were there last they had a full aisle of pool toys, boogie boards, beach towels and beach chairs. We bought beach chairs from them, the cost was less than a 2 day rental at the beach. We found a family that was checking in on the day we were leaving and just gave our stuff to them.

We were at HH three years ago right before Memorial Day, before summer season was in full swing. Absolutely loved it! We also rode bikes daily to the beach, great exercise and beautiful scenery. You pass many on bikes doing the same thing. Love the beach and the pool at the beachhouse and HHI because there are such an abundance of restaurants close by. Can't wait for our September stay! :cheer2:Wow, good luck on your possible move, beautiful place!:goodvibes
