HHI over New Year's? Anyone been?

Just toying with the idea of doing HHI over the winter holidays and staying the week after Christmas through New Year's. Has anyone done this? Are there any special New Years events at the resort or on the island?

We go every summer and just have a blast, but don't get to do alot of the resort activities as we spend loads of time at the beach and pools. Thinking it might be a fun vacation to do lots of those "other" activities. Concerning that, does the resort still have recreation activities in the winter months? I know they won't do Tues. night BBQ or pool games etc., but wondering about nature hikes etc.

We are going!!! Also another Dis family will be there with us. We arrive on Monday the 25th for 5 nights. I actually called the resort's front desk and the girl assured me they have a fun New Year's Eve there. This will be our first stay at HHI. I can't wait.

I will be there from 12/23-12-28....but sadly we have to leave before NYE.

If you do a search (and get lucky that the search engine works) I remember a TR from a family who went over New Years- it was from 2008. I remember it sounded like a GREAT time!!
