Hilton Head Island is a pretty difficult trade for summer months with many more requests than deposits. For example, this year I made a late deposit (20 days out) due to circumstances beyond my control, of my Hilton Head week starting June 25th. I was able to talk with a supervisor at II and get the late deposit penalty waived related to their lack of available units for trade. What location/week you trading with? If you have a strong trader, your chances of getting a unit will improve if you are requesting a year out. I would probably request Monarch or Grand Ocean first and second, due to excellent location, and then add some other Marriotts, if you want a beach location. If you would be happy in Seapines, you might consider adding Swallowtail or Spicebush. There are lots of other timeshares on the island that I don't know anything about. Other DISers might be able to help. Good luck!
I will have to check out the Monarch. The Grand was one that we thought of as being a choice. We have Harbor Pointe. We were also going to throw The Villages at Palmeadow Dunes in the mix.
If you are thinking of trading an Interval International resort to get Disney's HHI Resort you won't be able to since DVC is now trading with RCI, not II.
We are not thinking about trading into DVC. We want to stay within the Interval or Marriott system. I do love the DVC in Hilton Head. We went and visited the last time there.
