HHI in April

Hi!

We are planning a HHI stay next April. Wondering if anyone has gone at that time? Is it warm enough to go to the beach, or are we most likely going to want to swim in the pool? How are crowds? We are planning to arrive around the 18th of April. Just hoping we can get a 1 bedroom at the 7 mth window.

I haven't been to HHI during this time, but we just returned from a week at Myrtle Beach and the weather should be very similar. The weather was unpredictable as is most of the March/April timeframe. One day was rainy and upper 50s, the next day was sunny, very windy and mid-60s, the next sunny and 73. The ocean temperature was still fairly cold, not unbearable wading into but I wouldn't want to swim in it. The pool at the resort however should be fairly comfortable on the calmer days.

Drip, drip, drop... little April showers.
This is the rainy season on Hilton Head. Great time for flowers, less bugs and warm air temps but watch out for long rainy spells.
Spring and Easter break are busy times here but the crowds thin out slightly after Easter week. If you time it right you can have spectacular weather for all outdoor activities but its always a roll of the dice.

April 16-19 Forecast is:

We are at HH right now. The air temp today was 71 and the ocean temp was the same. Air was 74 yesterday and normal temps are near 80 for this time of year. The surf temp will vary greatly from day-to-day and even hour-to-hour but there were LOTS of people enjoying the ocean this afternoon. The tempurature prediction for tomorrow is 69 with rising temps over the weekend.

The DVC resort is really filled this week.

Thanks! Easter is early next year, April 4th, so I hope by the 18th the crowds are down. Weather sounds nice!

The Heritage Golf Classic also begins tomorrow - so the crowds are building as we speak. This will be a very busy weekend - although mostly at Sea Pines. The island is pretty well occupied at this time, the weather is great and the ocean is warm (relatively speaking).

April is a great time to be here!

We visited the 3rd week of April - it is spring vacation week for Massachusetts. It was busy at Disney that week.

We go to HHI at that time every year for the past 8 years or so. In fact we are leaving two days from now. We have rarely had a long rainy vacation at that time. We have gone to the beach but we are not big ocean swimmers but we put our feet in and play. The pools are great so we spend the most time there. This time frame is usually spring break for NH and parts of NJ but has never been super busy.
