Hi,
Going to be booking for a summer vacation (I hope). Going to be 87 yo MIL, two 19 yo boys, cousin and hubby from Germany, and the hubby and me.

I'm debating whether it is worth a precious 52 more points to book a grand villa where we can all stay together (260 pts) vs 208 for the 2BR plus a studio.

Do they have handicapped access rooms at HHI? It would be nice if my MIL had an accessible bathroom.

I have no idea the size of the rooms at HHI but am excited about trying out a new resort.

Thanks!
TK

Summer 2010? If yes, your chances are very slim to get a room now, especially a GV. Your best chances would be a 2 bedroom, most of the rooms at HH are 2 bedrooms.

None of the GVs are accessible. There are lock-off 2BRs (all in the lodge area) with accessibility. Make sure that is emphasized when making the reservation. I agree, if you are wanting summer 2010, there may not be much of anything available - even 2BRs - at this time. None of the dedicated 2BRs are HCA and the lock-offs are used primarily as Studios and 1BRs and those really go quickly since there are only 21 available in total - and only a couple of those are HCA.

The HH studios are 455 sq ft HH, 1BRs are 856, 2BRs are 1311 and GVs are 2362. Larger than all except OKW and VB. (... and I think the VGC GVs are also larger.)

It can't hurt to call about summer 2010 though. You'll never know about availability until you talk with MS.

Good luck!

We are going to HHI with DH's family in June '10. We decided to go with a 2BR and a studio instead of the GV. The main reason is that my nephews and niece are very loud and rambuncous, and while we're glad to have them along on the trip, I need a break from them. They, along with my sister-in-law, are staying in the studio. My family and DH's parents are staying in the 2BR. We're waitlisted right now for a lock off rather than a dedicated 2BR. My father-in-law is not in a wheelchair, but due to effects of a stroke and multiple heart attacks, cannot walk far or up stairs well. We don't need a HA room, per se, but will take it if that means we can be in the bldg. with the elevator and in-laws can have their own space.

I am enjoying a chuckle at my own HHI naïveté! I'm glad I read all the nice replies before I called MS today so I could have the proper mindset for the "we are completely booked except for Friday and Saturday all summer".

I am now waitlisted for our vacation (anyone who wants to drop their Monday-Friday reservation in July would be appreciated ;)) If it comes through it would be great, if not we'll make alternative plans.

Thanks for your help!
