Hi, all. We will be maiking a quick trip to HH in mid-June & was wondering if anybody had any advise on the do's & don't the area has to offer? Are there certain things at the resorts that shouldn't be missed? Has anybody ever done the "vanishing island" boat tour offered by an outside company & how was it? How about viewing the weekly fireworks show & where is the best place to view them? We will only have 3days/2nights there so any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The fireworks are in the marsh, so if you request a marsh view you can watch from your balcony. Although we have been on numerous tours, I find very few are worth the money you pay. I love the beach, so if I was there for a short period of time, I would hang at beach and pools. Lots of great resturants and shopping if that is your thing. Dolphin tours are popular.

We found the kayak tour to be fun.

I would not do the cookout/picnic that DVC has ever again. I've done it about 5 times and the food quality is very bad.:sad2:

Don't miss "Salty Dogs", it is a must to buy a Salty Dogs' t-shirt.:rotfl2:

We also enjoy long family bike rides down the beach.:thumbsup2

This year's Harbourfest activities are scheduled from June 21 thru August 9 with fireworks just after dark (around 9pm) on Tuesday evenings.

Fireworks are launched from a barge anchored right behind the resort so there are great viewing areas at the resort from the marsh side.

Enjoy!

We went last year and would highly recommend the kayak tour over the dolphin tour. We had a dolphin come right up to us and bump our kayak. The dolphin tour the people were up off the water pretty high and much further away from any water wildlife. The kayaking was very easy and relaxing.

We also loved Flamingo donuts and family capture the flag.

Have fun!

If you take the zodiac dolphin tour you will be very close to the surface of the water. Plus the guide knows where to find the dolphins.

I agree with poster who suggested for a quick trip not too much planned and more relaxing and soaking up the beauty of HHI. Biking is a great way to see island and you might want to visit lighthouse at Harbourtown. Disney resort itself has many daily activities available too.

What is the family capture the flag? That sounds like a lot of fun!! Also, thanks all for all the info. Does anybody know how I might be able to find out the daily activities Disney has to offer before we go to help with planning? Thanks again!!

I don't know of anyplace online or anything that has it specifically listed, but if you have kids there are tons of kids activities from the unbirthday party to different craft activities each day. Last time we were there they even made disney character pillows. There is the campfire every night with marshmallow roasting and smores. Nature walk around the resort was nice and relaxing (this is guided by a CM and at no cost).

For only a couple of days I would also suggest to just relax. There is shuffleboard near the pool, lots of walking paths, I also enjoy bike riding around the area and the kayak tour. There is also a magic show generally in the afternoon. There is not a full service restaurant on the resort, but many restaurants in walking or bike riding distance. If you go up on Yahoo Local for Hilton Head it will show all of the restaurants in the area as well as people's comments about them.
