Has anyone been to HHI during spring break (third week in March for us). We are thinking of going this year. Just wondering if others have been during this time of year and if it is warm enough to swim and such? What activities are typically offered during this time of year? We are a family of 4 (DS is 8 and DD is 12). The 7 month booking is coming up soon, just trying to plan ahead.

Thanks for any help!

We were there for spring break this year. The Tuesday barbeque with fireworks doesn't start until June. We did biking. There were nature walks and other actitivies like that planned. The kids night out with movies was in effect, but my tween didn't want to go.

It was much too cold for the beach. We tried, and failed to do that. Just too cold. We did the pool a couple of times as the main pool is heated. The beach house was open but no activities were being held there that I saw. The bar wasn't open. When they got out of the pool, it was cold.

We loved the resort but decided that we wouldn't go that early again. Our kids are 12, 5, 3 and 1. Loved the rooms. Loved the resort. But it wasn't really functional as the beach was unusable.

The service was wonderful everywhere we went. The people greeted you as if you were their long lost cousin. They were so happy you were coming into their store to spend money. The check out staff at the Publix actually smiled as they rang you up.

Other than the bike riding, my DGD12 was so bored, she didn't know what to do with herself. We were really happy with the free wi-fi. She sat using her laptop alot. (me too. We would sit on the porch together and surf the web)

The next time we return to HHI, it will be the summer.

Thank You sooo much! We may be waiting until summer to go.

Any other opinions? I would love to hear them!

Ours is around the 3rd week of March too! Even though I have never been to HHI, our first trip home...just added some HHI pts last year. We have read and know that the weather can be a hit or miss when it comes to swimming and beaching. However, my DD 17 wanted to go there along with 2 of her friends as a early graduation gift. So we research and decide to go at Spring Break vs. over the summer. This way the resort is quieter, less crowds, we plan on doing kayaking, shopping around HH, driving into Savanna and touring the old homes. Visiting the Girl Scout museum (we are involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts). Fire on the beach on cold nights. Reading books on the patio

She wanted a relaxing and touring trip. We are just going to go with the flow. So as little or do alot depending on how we feel. So as you can see it was not the most important part of trip to go swimming in the ocean.

Okay I've been to HHI at the end of March once, great coming from NW OH. It was in the high 60's. Of course they had some 80 degree days the week before.

Was there Holy week(mid April) another year and it was in the mid 70's and sunny. Pretty busy that week.

Both trips were business meetings, so I didn't get to spend much time on the beach. Perfect weather if you were a golfer/tennis player.

We went the last week of March in 07 and had a great time. Our kids ask all the time when we'll get to go back. For me personally it was too cool to swim most of the time but my kids were like fish! The water at the beach was too cold but they liked playing in the sand. We were there for Easter and there was an egg hunt and brunch. They started the Low Country Boil that week and although it was chilly and windy we had a pretty good time.

We did a dolphin tour, campfire/sing-a-long/smores and rented bikes. The kids went to an Unbirthday Party, the Kids' Night Out, a pool party, we made fleece pillows and painted/decorated wood picture frames. There were many activities that we didn't participate in. We find it's a great resort because there are many activities offered or you can do pretty much nothing and just relax.

We're going to try for the last week of March or first week in April for 2010. Leaning toward March due to the point difference.
