Does anyone know which buildings the studios villas are in at HHI? Or are they mixed in throughout all buildings? I'v read that there are 21 studios but I've never found a map that indicated which buildings they were located in. Also, any tips on which studio/building to request? I will be with my 8 year old son so I'm sure we'll spend a lot of time at the pool. But we really don't mind walking...plus we'll be renting bikes. Thanks for any advice!

Most of the studios are in Live Oak Lodge. That is the first building as you drive in and also where you check in. There are 5 studios that are in the buildings that have grand villas, scattered throughout the resort, but most likely you will get the main building area - buildings 11 and 12 which have 16 studios. There is also an elevator here and some covered parking as well as carts to carry your luggage up.

As far as I can remember no studios are in the buildings that surround the pool. But - the walk is very short and very pleasant from any building you may be assigned. The studios all have good sized balconies and the kitchenette is almost double the size of the WDW ones.

Have a great visit!

Here is a link to a detailed description of the HH Resort. It is also accessible from the DVC Resource Center link at the top of each DVC discussion forum.

All Lodge (Buildings 11 and 12) accommodations are lock off 1BR and Studios. There are a total of 16 1BR and 16 Studios in the lodge. The remaining 5 1BRs and 5 Studios are located beneath the GV's in buildings #16,18,19, 28 and 30.

Great information Doc! Thank you for providing those links. One more question...do you happen to know if the new mini-fridges in the studios have freezers in them?

Thanks for confirming what I thought, Doc. I posted this answer to the same question on another board and was told I was wrong-that 1 BRs and studios are not in the same buildings.

To the OP-I like the studios that are in the main building. There used to be a time when Wi-Fi was not available in the rooms, but Big Murgie's Den, so I got in the habit of making a nightly trip to BM Den. Now we like to stop by there for a game of checkers, a game of billiards, or just to read the HHI paper (The Island Packet).

All of the Studios/1BRs are lock-off 2BR villas with the connecting door - so it would be really difficult if they were all in different buildings. ;) There are no dedicated Studios or 1BRs at HH.

These lock-offs are typically only reserved as Studios or 1BRs and not as a lock-off 2BR unless needed for a HCA unit (and those are only in the Live Oak Lodge).

My understanding is that there are small freezer components in the Studio fridges, but I have not personally seen one to be able to verify.

Yes, there are very small freezer sections in the studio frigdes. Think large dorm fridge.

We stayed in a studio once a few years ago. It was located in the main building and was a nice size - they have a different layout than the ones at WDW - it's sort of an 'L' shape and the kitchenette is a really nice size with a lot of countertop area. The mini frig did have a small freezer compartment. There was no vanity in the bathroom tho (only a pedestal style sink) so the storage space in the bathroom was limited. I brought an over the door shoe holder that fit on the closet door and we used that as some spare storage. The one thing we really didn't like about HHI was that it's built of all wood construction so you can hear every creak of every floorboard above you. If we were to ever return I would definitley request to be on the top floor. IIRC it was about a 5 min. walk to the pool.
