HHI at Easter

hi guys! We are planning a trip to HHI for next year at the start of April , before Easter. Can you tell me what to expect in terms of crowds, weather etc? We have only ever been in July before!
Also, we will be booking at the 7 month mark, will this be hard to get?

We were there for three days in 2008 and checked out the Saturday before Easter. The weather was nice (shorts and T-shirts) but the ocean water was chilly. The pool water was comfortable. The crowds didn't seem bad, but we had never been there before and could only compare them to crowds at the WDW DVC resorts. If you like buffalo wings, look for the island's "Wing Fest". When we were there it was held the Saturday before Easter. I would also recommend One Hot Mama's for a meal.

As long as you avoid the week before and after Easter (Spring Break for most SC schools) I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting something at the 7 month mark. The crowds will definitely not be like they are in June-August. If there will be any major sporting events (golf/tennis) happening the week you are there it might affect non-resort activities, but the resort itself should be fairly quiet.

There are more dedicated 2BR units at HHI than any other size unit so it can be difficult getting a 1BR or studio (from breaking up a 2BR lockoff) during peak times.

The weather can be sporadic in April so its very hard to predict. You can have weather in the 80s one week and 40s the next. I would expect the ocean temperatures to be on the cold side but the resort pools would be fine.

I'm interested in this also. We're planning our first Easter trip to HHI in 2011 (which also is our anniversary as well as Easter). We just lost out on a HHI resale purchase last night, so we'll be trying to book at the 7 month window. And to make it even more difficult, we're looking for a studio or 1 BR, since there's just 2 of us, and there aren't many of those at HHI. We're looking at checking in on Good Friday, then staying a few days after Easter. Any experiences? Crowded? Weather?

I booked a 2br at the 7mo mark for the week after Easter in 2008 and the week before Easter in 2010, it worked out to be nearly the same dates though. In 2008 it was cool but the kids found it warm enough to swim. In 2010 it was 80 and sunny every day - absolutely beautiful.

Easter is Apr. 24 in 2011 so it will probably be beautiful weather by then. Unfortunately our Spring Break was changed to the end of March due to how late Easter falls. Not sure if we'll try it again since we're planning for WDW in June 2011.

As for crowds, you'll want to check if they'll be having their big golf tournament in Harbourside. That brings HUGE crowds. We have no other season to compare it to but we didn't find that time period to be all that crowded although the resort was sold out.

ETA: Just checked the Heritage Golf Classic will be April 11-17, 2011. From what I've heard that brings lots of people to the island.

I think we have one thing working in our favor and that is that our kids have spring break the first full week of April every year. So, in 2011, we will be on break 2 weeks before Easter.

We are only a family of 4 and we usually like the 1BR's, but knowing that there are so few of them available, I am planning on a 2BR for this trip. I just don't want my kids to get spoiled with their own room and think they can have it every time.

LOL, you will get spoiled having the 2br. We are a family of 5 and usually do a 1br which works in WDW because we spend more time out of the room than in. In HHI we find we spend more time in the room with meals, etc and it's nice having the living room be just that and not having to deal with the pull-out.
