Last night DH checked the list of golf courses at HHI and figured out that he's now played every course (except private courses) on the island. He's so excited, I promised him I'd post for him so he can brag about his accomplishment. When we first visited HHI after we joined DVC 7 years ago, he told me that his goal was to play at every golf course on the island and now he's done it. It probably cost more than our points! The good news is that the ones he liked best were the ones closest to the resort, at Palmetto Dunes, partially because of the convenience. I asked him which one(s) he didn't like, but he said that no one's yet made the golf course he didn't like.

There is never a "bad" golf course :) Only one that is not as good as the next!

Very true! And of course, for the courses that weren't so good, he said he really should play those courses again because maybe he just went on a not-so-good day.

Hi Simba's Mom! Could you list which courses he liked best? I see you said the ones closest to the resort but wondering the names. We are heading to HHI next month (first time there) and my DH is planning on playing a few days. Not sure which courses yet. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The ones he liked best nearby were the Fazio course and the Robert Trent Jones course. As far as the RTJ course, he's somewhat biased-he plays a RTJ-designed course at home, so that's the type he feels comfortable on. I rode in the cart on the Fazio course and I thought it looked tough (but what do I know-I don't golf). Every hole had sandtraps around it. The lady we played with couldn't get her ball up over the traps, so she quit part way through the round she was so discouraged. If your DH wants to see the ocean when he plays, don't think the Ocean course will show a lot of ocean. There's only one peek on the 15th hole there. You'll see just as much ocean at RTJ. And DH thought it was cool that he saw dolphins from that one. I hope you enjoy HHI. We love it there. We'll be a month behind you-headed there for our fifth Thanksgiving. We're also hoping to try it for Easter 2011, but so far we're waitlisted.

Good for your DH! I sure hope he gets a chance to play again. We're waitlisted too for HHI, but for our DS and for the week before Easter.

We need pixie dust!

Congratulations to your DH!! Now, if he wants to start in on the private courses, we belong to SPCC!

Are you serious? I'd earn my permanent reward to be able to do about a million dumb wifey things if I told him he could play there.
