HHI, 7 months April Spring Break?

We'll book VB for our DS's family, but HHI would be just that much closer. It turns out their spring break is Holy Week. Does anyone have any odds of us getting a 2 bedroom for them at HHI if I call at 7 months.

A surprise for me is that VB is so expensive that week, they will make do with a 1 bedroom there, but HHI would be fewer points for a 2 bedroom. Weather conditions seem to favor VB by being 10 degrees warmer.

DH and I won't be going, but either place would be a welcome break from MA's most likely cooler weather.

It's more like 15 degrees warmer @ VB - but the biggest thing is that you are pretty much guaranteed warm weather in Vero, and HHI is hot-or-miss. April is still on the cool side for HHI - availability is a problem in the summer. We've gotten HHI for Easter Week at 7 months (The year we were there we high temps in the high 70's until the day we left - it dropped to highs in the 50's.

We've booked at the 7 month mark for the past four years for spring break and never had a problem. Last year, we needed to waitlist to add one additional day, but that was only a couple of weeks in advance, and we still got the day. Temps do vary, but if your family is going for several days, chances are they'll see at least a day or two in the 70's! Enjoy!

We got the week after Easter in 2008 at the week before Easter this year both at 7mos. This year the resort was at capacity so you'll want to book at 7mos on the dot. The weather can be hit or miss but Easter is April 24 next year so it should be fine. This year the week before easter was 80 and sunny every day!

I was wondering this exact same thing, since we're thinking of going later that same Holy Week and we forgot that it's MA's spring break from school (Marathon day/Patriot's Day also). So we'll call on the dot at 7 months. Unlike you, we're looking for a 1 BR or studio, and since HHI has so many fewer of those, our chances are even harder than for a 2 BR. However, having spent spring break both in MA and in HHI, I agree that HHI is much warmer. Just tell them to be prepared for black flies (yeah, I know-HHI calls them "no see'ums, but they seemed like MA's "black flies").

OK...that's lots of encouragement. I'm probably only going to book 4 nights at VB and then hope to get the 5 at HHI in the 2 bedroom. I have the equivilant of a Grand Gathering coming up at VB this June, so '11 VB points have mostly been used, we'll be well into '12 points for the April '11 trip.

They want to do bike riding and exploration type things. We all were in WDW this past January in the extreme frigid spell and they managed some swim time then. So, if I can get them in, I think it will be a great vacation!

I've wanted to share the DVC HHI experience with them ever since DH and I went over Halloween. We won't be joining them in April, but it's not going to be that long until we retire and have more time to do things like this together.
