HHI 7 month June booking and golf questions

Well I took so many great pictures and spoke so glowingly about the DVC resort in HH this June that my brother and SIL(also DVC members) asked if we minded if thye tagged along next year.

Funnily enough, my husband and I were saying that we had to find some way to get them down there with us, we were sure they'd love it. We didn't have to do any convincing at all. LOL

Since we own there, we have already booked our 2 bedroom for the first week of June next year.

My brother and sister in law don't own there, so they have to wait to the 7 month mark-they want a 1 bedroom, i know they are difficult to get-anyone else usually book at 7 months for that time frame and if so how was your luck?

Also, now that my husband has my brother to golf with, he's looking for a golf course-they are not good golfers, LOL, but they enjoy it. Any recommendations for a couple of hacks?

Can't answer about the golf but it is hard to get anything [except a stray night here or there] at HHI in June and 1 bedrooms are very tough. Could you rent them a room on your HHI points by borrowing and have them pay you with a transfer? Might make more sense, especially if there points are of any value to you. Just an idea.

The 1st week of June might be the easiest week of the summer to get- why don't you call MS in a few weeks and see how avail looks and if rooms are scarce, then consider the above.

I tried to book for 1st week of June (1 Bed) and could only get a Saturday night.
I'd have them book for cash if you want to be sure to stay next June.
Or they could do like I did and buy some points! I loved it so much that I knew I'd want to go back in the summer.

We only have 100 HH points,(most of ours are BWV points)-we're already borrowing from the following year for our vacation, I don't have enough points to rent for them as well.
They are welcome to stay with us, as we'd have the room for them with the 2 bedroom-not sure if they'd want to stay with our kids, LOL, but I guess that will be the back up plan.

They're DVC members too(SSR & BCV) so they could rent their own with the discount, but I am pretty sure they don;t want to pay cash. Oh well, we'll see.

I asked DH about the golf since he's played many of the golf courses on HHI. He had trouble thinking of a course that would be "fun but easy". As he said, since HHI is an island, you can't avoid lots of water and water is usually the most intimidating part for golfers. However, he recommended the Country Club at Hilton Head and the Robert Trent Jones Course. However, the couse he plays regularly is a RTJ design, so he's pretty used to and likes his courses.

We stayed at HHI (1 bdrm) in June 2007 and once before in June. I think being the first week will be easier by far than the later weeks. We did our booking DBD so I don't know how the new rules will change the possibilities.
