Why is it making me pay in advance for the whole dinner show when I will be using our DXDP?(not just the 10.00 ADR non-cancellation fee)

Call for it instead.
Alternately, make your reservation with a (temporary) full payment, then call in and have them remove the charge.

We've done it that way a few times for CRT/Hoop de Doo.

The dining system online often doesn't link you with your already-booked reservation, even if you're signed in (I'm assuming you already have your package booked - cause if not, then you won't have the confirmation number you'll need to have them remove/refund the charges and/or book it on your credits).

You can make the res online. Besides being signed in, you need to click on the blue link at the bottom of the res page that says something to the effect of "I want to use a dining plan for prepaid reservations." Also, the dining plan can only be used for certain seating categories/dinner show times so be sure you're choosing correctly.

If you go ahead and pay in full, then decide to call the dining line, be VERY clear to the CM that you want to keep the res, but only want to change the form of payment. Otherwise the CM may choose the easiest method of refunding the payment which is to cancel the current res, then re-book. However, there's no guarantee that between the time of cancelling and re-booking someone else won't get the res.

Also to note that HDDR (and CRT and the other dinner shows) are NOT $10pp No Show fees. HDDR is a full prepay experience, so if you don't show up, or if you cancel after the deadline (48hrs, I believe for these) you will be charged the full amount per person.
